Registration Instructions

At Riverside we focus everything we do on the Good News of Jesus Christ and a God that desires a relationship with us that will last forever. Our mission statement says it well, “To know Jesus Christ and to make Christ known to all.” We believe that Jesus can change lives for the better, and camp is a great environment for change and growth because we focus on the whole camper.

The physical benefits of camp are many, offering an active camp experience in which youth are able to exercise and play in a safe, fun environment. Camp benefits students mentally by challenging campers to think deeply about how God’s Word is active in their lives. We strive to create a comfortable and encouraging social environment for youth to grow friendships and learn what Christian community is all about. Finally, the spiritual: We focus everything we do on Jesus Christ and His eternal, never changing, never failing love. What’s so special about camp? God is at work at Riverside, impacting the whole person. Come experience it with us!

Family Camp 2013

Register online today at www.RiversideLBC.org

What a great way to spend a few vacation days! All families with children of all ages are welcome. Grandparents, this is for you too! This is guaranteed to be a relaxing few days away from your normal busy schedules and focus on your family and God! No cooking, no cleaning, no yard work. Just come and enjoy! Our staff welcomes your family with arms open wide, ready to serve!

These days are going to be filled with God’s Word, tons of fun, activity, laughter, and fellowship. Each morning following chapel, the adults will be taught by our adult speaker who will focus on an in-depth Bible study. Meanwhile, the children will be with our awesome counseling staff, divided into age groups. They will experience a time of learning more about Jesus through tons of really fun activities!

Enrique (Q) and Martha Ochoa, our 2013 speakers, have been married since 1992. They were great friends in college in the early 80's - but it took 7 years before Q finally got the hint and asked Martha to marry him; he's glad she said yes! They are raising a family in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where Q serves as Leadership Development Director at Nazareth Lutheran Church and Martha is a Physician at the University of Northern Iowa Health Clinic. After the opportunity to facilitate two Marriage Retreats at Riverside, we are excited to have them be a part of Riverside Family Camp for the first time!

Marriage Retreat

Men’s Retreat

Last year’s first-ever Spring Men’s Retreat at Riverside was amazing! It was so good, we are making it an annual event. Join us at Riverside this spring for the second-ever Spring Men’s Retreat! You can expect great teaching, fellowship, worship, prayer, fun times, small groups, and a steak fry!

The retreat is open to all men age 18 and over, or 14 and over if accompanied by a father, guardian, or grandfather. The weekend begins on Friday at 7pm and will conclude Saturday around 8pm.

Dates: April 19-20

Our guest speaker, Eric Voelker, serves as a teaching pastor at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Eric focuses primarily on leading Hope’s ministry to men in the community. Eric has a big heart for Christian discipleship, caring for those in need, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Riverside’s Marriage Retreat is a time to get away from everything and take the time to be with your spouse in an atmosphere which encourages godly marriages, lasting relationships, friendships, and fellowship with others. This weekend is filled with sessions with our speakers, God’s Word, worship, skits, fun, fellowship, and laughter.

This year’s theme is “Completely One.” Matthew 19:1-11, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

Dates: March 1-3

Our speakers, Jim & Kathie Hobson, have been married over 30 years, have two married daughters, and have been National Directors of Christ-Life Ministries since its inception 12 years ago. Kathie has served as a therapist in clinical and church settings. Both have a passion to see people become who they were created to be; to fulfill their God-given purpose. Through Christ-Life’s program, Ultimate Journey, they equip people to have productive lives, love-filled marriages and emotionally healthy children.
