This list will be updated with amendments and additions as appropriate and published on the RCSI (School of Pharmacy) website.

Please note, the list is not exhaustive as additional placements are available for which details cannot be published. Arrangements to fill these placements are made by the relevant organisations and not RCSI. Please also note, the responsibility to source a placement resides with the individual student. The tutor list is an aid to sourcing a placement; it is not the sole mechanism. Any entries made since the last tutor list update are annotated *.

Please note the following important information regarding the application process for the National Pharmacy Internship Programme (NPIP) for 20132014.

The application process is being handled by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) on behalf of the PSI. For students who have successfully gained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) Degree the earliest permitted date for commencement of the NPIP for the academic year 20132014 is Monday 1st July 2013, [subject to meeting the eligibility criteria as set out in the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Education and Training) Rules 2008]. The latest permitted date for commencement of the NPIP will be 26th September 2013.

Applicants should note that the statutory declaration (Form NPIP3) reflects the information that is also furnished via the Garda Vetting process with a view to facilitating a more streamlined review of the application documentation. Applicants should note that they are required to form a judgment as to matters which might reasonably be considered to have a bearing on their fitness to practise as a pharmacist in Ireland.

Applications for 20132014 will only be accepted through the Online Application System (OAS) and applications that are received in any other format will not be accepted. The OAS will be available from 27th June 2013 until the 28th of July 2013.

An intern must not undertake their training in a training establishment where there is a ‘connected person’. For the purposes of applications for the NPIP, an applicant shall be deemed to be connected with a training establishment, or a tutor pharmacist, if the applicant is the owner or co-owner of that establishment, or is connected with any owner or co-owner of that establishment, or the applicant is connected with the tutor pharmacist. The term “connected” shall be construed in accordance with Section 10 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 (as amended from time to time) (the “TCA”) and a “relative”, as such term is used in the TCA, shall be deemed to include an uncle, aunt, niece or nephew.

Please Note: Students who are awaiting the result of supplemental exams are not eligible to apply for the NPIP during the period 27th June to 28th July 2013 (only persons who have acquired a degree in pharmacy accredited by the PSI – or have met all requirements for the award of such degree, i.e. if conferring of degree is awaited – are eligible to apply). There will be a further opportunity for students in these circumstances to apply following the confirmation of supplemental exam results.

Applications must be submitted during the period 27th June 2013 until 28st July 2013.

There will be no facility to submit applications beyond this date, except for those students who are successful following the sitting of supplemental exams. Please note, as part of the application process for the NPIP, applicants are required to submit documentation in addition to the mandatory information that is required on the OAS. Please see the diagram below which explains this further.

On receipt of the completed application and supporting forms/documentation the RCSI and the PSI will carry out standard background checks on the details provided. All applications for training placements are subject to approval by the Professional Development and Learning Committee of the PSI Council. In circumstances where a placement has still to be secured, the online application can still be submitted (subject to the applicant having gained the relevant degree). Form NPIP3 must be posted at this time. Form NPIP2 must be submitted as soon as a placement is secured. The latest date for submission of form NPIP2 is the 14th of August 2013 however applicants who have not secured a placement by this date may continue to try and source a placement. If you have not submitted form NPIP2 by this date you must notify the Programme Co-ordinator of your status. Applicants must have secured a placement by the end of September 2013. NPIP2 and NPIP3 forms will be made available for download on entering the OAS.

Registration and Orientation (Attendance mandatory for all students)

There will be a further opportunity for late registration for students who have not received results from supplemental exams. Students who have not secured a placement by the 26th of September will not be permitted to register on this date however are required to attend the Orientation session. There will be a further opportunity to register when a placement is secured.

Subject to confirmation, Registration and Orientation will take place on Monday 16th September 2013 (full day – 10.00 – 18.00hrs) in the RCSI, 123 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.

Further information on the process for payment of the NPIP application fee will be available on registration day. Please refer to the table below for a summary of the key dates.
