INFO SESSION

However, this was not enough. Those who were present had the chance to be introduced to the types of interships AIESEC can provide for them and also to the opportunities it offers. Opportu-nities of bringing change in a certain community and to develop one’s potentials.

During the info session which was held in the FSB, the Executive Bureau introduced “What is AIESEC” to those who were present. “AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent. not for profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education.” AIESEC is for learning. AIESEC

These ideas were foregrounded in the Info session because they represent the core of AIESEC. The participants in the info session met the AIESEC VALUES. In the AIESEC HISTO-RY part, there was an emphasis that AIESEC Bizerte is the newest and youngest local in Tunisia.

WELCOME AFTERNOON.

On the 12th of Octo-ber 2013, the new members were called to the “Welcome Af-ternoon” at the FSB. It is the first time, all the members are gathered in the same place. New faces, young spi-rits, full of wonder , hiding many questions. The session started with the AIESEC SHOUT “ HEY AIESEC/ WHAT’S UP/ HEY AIESEC /WHAT’S UP»

“Being a new member myself , I had no idea about what a shout is. I was baffled at the beginning ; but then I understood that the shout meant to draw our attention to the team who was in charge of delivering the sessions.

««

A brief introduction to the AIESEC Vision, AIESEC History,AIESEC Way, AIESEC hierarchy . Lots and lots of information which needed to be retained. All those who were present were paying attention and taking notes. After a sufficient number of questions and answers, there was time for practicality. The new comers were divided into groups of six. In those small units, they had the chance to work together on a task which involves group work. They worked together even though for most of them , it is the first time they see each other; but at that stage, they were all ONE. They are all AIESECers. It was then they discovered AIESEC Values From Activating Leadership to Enjoying Participation .

Even though the new comers were a bit shy, there was an apparent promise of hard work and a conspicuous desire to become THE AIESECer. The Welcome Afternoon ended successfully with the first picture of the first generation of AIESEC Bizerte, Executive Bureau and members, side by side.

LOCAL MOTIVATIONAL SEMINAR

On the 19th of October 2013, a bus drove the new members to Hotel Zenith in Ham-mamat where the Local Motivational Seminar was held. The new members’ first official en-counter with other LCs was with LC Carthage, hence the appellation given to the LMS as being the CNN ( Carthage Newbies Network). The recognition and welcoming from LC Carthage were of paramount importance.

It has greatly affected the new members and en-couraged them to work even harder and to shine even though they were a minority in terms of numbers.

They were distinct since their shout before the begin-ning of the sessions “ One Family.. One Team.. One Dream” Although only 24 members from AIESEC Bizerte

attended the se-minar, they were noticeable through their participation and enthusiasm. The seminar which prolonged over the weekend was the first collective expe-rience the members have undergone. It was certain that fatigue could not feed on them.In fact, they were active during the workshops, asked questions, answe-red some and were open to other new members from LC Carthage. By the end they stood as a unity, a special unity.

KEY AREA DAY.After the first appearance of AIESEC Bizerte in a Local Motivational Se minar, it was time for the first Local Committee Meeting . The members had to have a thorough knowledge of each Key Area, its hierarchy, it functions and utility. On the 26th of October, each Key Area responsible explained his/her department and answered different questions asked by the members. Some were certain about the Key Area they want to work in. Others were still discovering what each Key Area hides. What was certain is that by choosing any department , they were about to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Members will build new skills and develop some dormant skills within them. They will have to be a part of a team and act accordingly. The application was released on the 27th of October. The deadline was after three days.
