Netball Player Profile President’s ReportWell we go from no home games to an absolute barrage of

them, which is great to finally have some local footy for our supporters to get behind.

Last week was a week of ups and downs, the ups being the birth of Lachie and Kate Gillespie’s fourth child Patrick, and the lows being the last game of three-time TDFC best and fairest winner Matt Wade. Both of these were covered well last week’s Seagull Chatter, so all I need to do is congratulate the Gillespies and wish Wadey the best of luck in Swan Hill.

We have finally started to get some positive media coverage in the local papers which is very pleasing, and it is basically a result of our continued improvement and the performance of young players. We have had some internal battles with the promotion of under 19 players into our senior side and we acutely understand the pressure it puts on our under 19s when guys are promoted to the seniors. However we are giving these young guys an opportunity that they would not get at other SEFNL clubs and they are performing exceptionally well when given that opportunity. Lachie was appointed to the role of senior coach with the purpose of bringing our youth to their highest potential in a short but controlled manner, and I believe even Lachie would be surprised by the quality performances of our young brigade this year. Our club, and the football careers of our young players, is set to benefit hugely from our policy of focussing on youth, rather than bringing in costly big name players that stay for a season or two and then we never see them again.

Today is our annual Sponsors Day luncheon and I would like to welcome our sponsors and their guests to Tooradin today. Sponsors are an integral part of our club and without them we would not exist. I sincerely thank all our sponsors and hope that whenever possible all our members support our sponsors and their business’s.

Cranbourne are todays opponents and we have not had a win over them since 2007 so we are well and truly due to break this drought. They are a well drilled and mature side with plenty of champions, however with the improvement we have seen in our side this season I am sure that we will notch a big upset over one of the league’s powerhouse sides very soon and it might even be today.

Good luck to all our football and netball sides today.

Fly high you mighty Seagulls!, Derek Genoni, President

Name? Courtney MasonDo you have any nicknames and if so how did you get them? Most of my friends call me court, but ever since I was little my dad has always called me tiger. He said that he called me this because I was his favourite and he loves Richmond so much and thought that it would be appropriate. Netball position and playing history? The position that I mainly play is Goal Attack. I started when I was five years old and have played at Casey District Club and now Tooradin!Tell us something not many people would know about you? I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have been ever since I was five years old. AFL team? I don’t really follow the AFL too much but if I had to pick a team to barrack for it would be Richmond because my dad always wants us all to. Top five dinner party guests, dead or alive? Ricki-Lee Coulter, Carla Delevingne, Marilyn Monroe, Sharelle McMahon, Zac Efron.

How did you come to start playing at Tooradin? I have always wanted to play for a football/netball club. I first tried out for Tooradin last year and I am enjoying a lot. Other than netball, what are your interests? I like reading all types of books and going shopping. Most embarrassing moment? One of the most embarrassing things that has happened to me was when I slipped on a banana peel at the shopping centre in front of everyone and the people that were with me stood there laughing and pointing while passersby stared at me on the ground.

Netball President’s ReportToday welcome our sponsors to the netball and football. A huge thank you again for

your support, it makes such a difference to what the netball club is able to achieve on and off the court. Hopefully we can put some good games on for you to watch today!Last week we came up against Berwick for the second time and whilst we didn’t get many wins on the board we are definitely closing the gap with score lines much tighter than our last encounter. Five of the games were within four goal margins, including a fantastic draw by our 15 and under red team. Our 15 and under red girls doubled the number of goals they scored from their last encounter against Berwick!
