You grew up in Texas, what’s it like living in Oklahoma now? And what’s

your favorite part about it?

Oklahoma’s the best top hat Texas could ask for. Jokes aside, lucky to have landed here.

There’s never been a more exciting time to live in Oklahoma City than right now. To see the

growth and meet the new generation of Oklahomans reinvesting in their state is inspiring.

Folks are onto something here...

Most memorable moment in your career?

May 20th, 2013. My photographer and I were in Shawnee when the tornado touched down

outside Newcastle. I remember turning on the radio and hearing our meteorologist Damon

Lane give the tragic play-by-play. By the time we arrived in Moore, we knew Briarwood and

Plaza Towers Elementary Schools were in bad shape. We didn’t know the full extent until we

turned down a street to see dozens of muddy students and teachers, some even bleeding.

For the next four hours we went live just a few blocks from a flattened Briarwood. Those

teachers - some of the bravest folks I’ve ever met. They not only kept those kids safe, but

calm as an EF-5 bore down. Spoke to a boy whose teacher covered his body with hers as

Page 27: So6ix Magazine February 2015

the roof caved in. Interviewed a father who ditched his car in traffic and ran six miles to make

sure his son was alive. Our purpose that day became reuniting families. We read off a list of

student’s names on air until the very last parent showed up, one of the few bright spots on

such a dark day.

Piece of fashion advice to male readers?

Bribe a good tailor into becoming your best friend.

A suit's only as sharp as the person fitting it.

What’s your favorite piece of clothing that everyone needs in his or her

closet?

Something unique, no one else can call their own. For me, it’s a pair of custom sterling

cufflinks my grandfather gave my dad back when he was my age. Wearing them now reminds

me to hustle as hard as the Chesky men who made them look good long before I came along.

Where are your go-to places to hang out in the city?

Anywhere within walking distance of my place in Mesta Park. That means Saturday morning

breakfasts at Big Truck Tacos, Coffee at Cuppies and Joe, and the occasional hard earned

refreshment at Grandad’s.

Any hobbies besides delivering the news?

When time allows give me a backpack and get me off the grid. No, I haven’t wrestled a bear

(yet), but as an Eagle Scout, rest assured I’ll be ready when the time arises.

Where did the passion for anchoring and reporting come from?

It’s one thing to follow history, it’s another to see it, hear it, feel it as it happens.

Also, I was born with this voice, what else was I supposed to do with it?

What are your future plans or goals?

Reporting is a lot like golf, minus the green jackets. There’s always more to learn or

something that could use work. That said, the goal is to keep moving forward, the plan is to be

ready for wherever that takes me.

What’s your favorite season (weather) and why?

Late summer, two reasons: Grandmother's peach cobbler & Mom's blackberry pie. For

those of you thinking, "Oh, my mom’s is pretty good too..." let me break this gently: it's not.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

Got 2nd place in a turkey calling contest. I was three. And yes, I still have the trophy.

If you could go back in history and meet or have dinner with anyone, who

would it be?

Hands down my dad, Vic Chesky. He passed away from a heart attack a few weeks before

my sophomore year in high school. He never met a stranger and was keeper of a killer dry wit.

Would give anything to catch-up over a couple ribeyes (his rare, mine medium rare) and talk

on everything under the sun. Also be nice to show Dad I grew out of the Abercrombie/puka

shell necklace phase.

If you could choose one mandatory thing for anyone to read (book,

magazine, article etc.) What would it be?

The Essential Calvin and Hobbes Collection. A good reminder to not always take ourselves

so seriously. We should all laugh more.

What’s playing on your iTunes?

iTunes? Spotify stole my soul a few months back. When it comes to music, appreciate

the classics: Zeppelin, Dylan, Sugar Ray. Been known to rock some James Brown during

commercial breaks to loosen everyone up (much to the chagrin of friend & co-anchor Erielle

Reshef).

Anything else you want readers to know about you?

Nope, but feel free to hit me up on Xanga.

EATSLocated in the historic Buick building

in Automobile Alley, Broadway 10 is a reflection of everything that Oklahoma is becoming. The warehouse sat vacant for nearly a quarter century, until Jeff Dixon and Aaron Soward, two locals, saw a moment for redefinition. And they aren’t stopping with

just one venture. Their next feat, Sidecar Wine Bar, will be Automobile Alley’s neighborhood pub, complete with crafted and draft beer. Dixon and Soward are putting a great new spin on the restaurant community. Broadway 10 is big city with a unique “Okie” touch. Having lived in Chelsea, Manhattan for a summer myself, it reminded me so much of walking into an upscale eatery, where the ambiance is soothing and the smells are heavenly. This was better, though. Broadway 10 had that “home” feel that I longed for that summer: extremely elegant, but not standoffish; very inviting. When I try new restaurants, I’m always hopeful but skeptical. So I’m not just saying this: Broadway 10 blew my expectations out of the water. Each dish was plated to allure, the flavors were delectable, and the service was efficient and knowledgeable. Unlike other chophouses, Broadway 10 offers each dish with a side starch or a vegetable. It’s not just an à la carte menu, where many of the primal cuts, fins, feathers and shells are cooked to perfection over an open flame on a hardwood grill. They truly put the perfect twist on the typical chophouse. How many chophouses can you think of where you can sit down and order sushi rolls? I’m not talking a prerolled, boring roll, either; I’m talking about hand-rolled sushi filled with only the freshest and most flavorful ingredients. That’s what I love about this new eatery. It’s not just one typical choice, but many flavorful choices that work cohesively together in perfect unison. There is truly something here for every palate. Broadway 10 is everything you could hope for in a new restaurant establishment here in Oklahoma City, and I couldn’t be more proud of where our city is headed!

What We Tasted:Charcuterie Board – This large appetizer consists of three cheeses, three meats, three garnishes and homemade raspberry puree with garlic toast points.

The Buick: Sushi Roll – Crab salad, cream cheese, jalapeno and asparagus, topped with sweet garlic shrimp.

6 oz Filet Mignon: Cooked Medium – Hardwood grilled over an open flame, paired with a creamy horseradish sauce.

Yukon Gold Au Gratin – A combination of Yukon Gold potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet onions and an explosion of cheese, in the best way possible. (We’re not kidding when we say an explosion of cheese.)

Wild Isle Organic Salmon – Hardwood grilled over an open flame with a creamy Southwest remoulade.

Smoked Gouda Mash – Creamy, smoky, delicious potatoes. These potatoes will change your life.

Cream Corn Chili Verde – Creamy yet crunchy, with a little flair of Southwest spice.

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a bowl, whisk together egg white s , agave nectar, vanilla, and salt.

Stir in coconut until completely coated with egg mixture. With a 1 1/2-inch scoop, make 30 balls, transferring each one to a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.

2. Bake, rotating the baking sheet halfway through, until the coconut starts to turn golden brown on the edges, about 12-15 minutes, depending on your oven and how golden brown you prefer them to be.

Transfer sheet to a wire rack, and let cool completely. (Cookies can be stored in an airtight container up to 3 days)

Before serving, drizzle with melted chocolate, or dip one side in melted chocolate. Refrigerate 15 minutes to set.

Neptune and Mars in your 11th house indicate a desire for love but some confusion surrounding the connection. Don’t rush. On the 20th, you’ll need rest so pace yourself as this has to do with Mars moving into your 12th house. You can get lots done but mostly behind-the-scenes.

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20)Don’t allow Saturn to damage your personal relationships as its presence in your 7th house will continue for some time. Look more to the passionate combination of Venus and Mars in the upper part of your horoscope indicating idealism, important social and business engagements and the desire to connect with soulmates. Legal or bureaucratic issues can be resolved on the forward movement of mercury after the 12th. Travels which may have also been on the pipe works finally gain clarity.

CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22)Working through money issues will be tedious but after the 16th you can look forward to a breath of fresh air thereby allowing yourself to focus on other more social and personal matters. The Sun moves to Pisces on the 19th and this indicates travels and connections with people at a distance. Mars moving to your career zone on the 20th also brings with it dynamic energy but be careful that you don’t become too aggressive in your desire to achieve your goals. The new moon in Pisces on the 29th indicates the start of a new cycle spiritually.

LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22)Trying to understand your spouse or lover will not be

PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20) Secrets and other issues from the past may plague you this month and you need to retrospectively look over events, words and issues that may have even been long gone. Up until the 12th the retrogression of Mercury demands a review of what’s gone before and until this happens you can’t move forward. Fortunately the Sun moves to your Sun sign on the 19th bringing with it a lift in physical and intellectual energies. You also have Venus and Mars occupying your Sun sign and this is a good counteraction to these difficult transits you may encounter. The Sun still hovering in your 10th house of profession it’s likely additional responsibilities may be on your shoulders for a while longer.

ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 19) Miscommunications in your social group improve after Mercury goes direct on 12 February. With the Sun also in this area much of your attention is on friendships and improving the quality of those relationships. Your ruling planet ramps up your physical and mental energy on the 20th when it moves to your Sun sign. Be sure to get plenty of exercise to let off steam. With Venus also entering your Sun sign on the 21st this starts a romantic cycle for you.

TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20)You have a need to prove yourself with the Sun shining in your career zone throughout February. This gives you the opportunity to elevate yourself professionally. Look out for promotions which will suit you perfectly. Important documents you may have been waiting for finally arrive especially around the 15th. Venus,

easy this month but when Mercury moves forward on the 12th you can say what is necessary and you will be understood in the way you want. Venus and Mars in your 8th house promise passionate times ahead make sure your communication is grounded in mutual respect and understanding. Venus moves to Aries your zone of learning and foreign communications and there is the possibility that you may make a romantic connection with some foreigner or at least be interested in gaining a deeper insight into foreign cultures et cetera.

VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) Disputes are likely with Mars and Venus in your marital zone this month and you need to be careful all the way up until the 20th when this fiery and opposing planet moves to your 8th house of sexuality and deeper transformative processes. You are keen to understand yourself and your partner during this period. Venus in your 7th house tends to soften the impact of Mars but both you and your lover may be at odds for at least the 1st half of the month. On the 19th, the Sun brings with it some revitalising energies to your zone of partnerships and this includes personal as well is business.

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22)You have an aggressive approach to dealing with co-workers this month so you need to tone down your demands and your find that others will be more likely to assist you. The Sun on the 5th house up until the 19th is a great planetary omen for creative output. It also indicates deeper connections with children if you are a parent or at least with people who are younger than you. This will keep you young and vibrant as well. There may be an opportunity to start some new around the new moon of the 29th and this points to the beginning of new opportunities professionally.

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21)You may be confused in your love life as the primary love planets, Venus and Mars occupy your 5th house of love affairs. Coupled with the conjunction of Neptune this can make for difficult decisions romantically. You’ll be passionate, creative but uncertain of which way to turn. There may be some improvement when Mars moves to Aries after the 20th so be patient. The Sun and mercury also shine a light on your domestic affairs and getting into step with your relatives may be a harder task than you at 1st thought. Be patient and listen to what is being said.

SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21)You have the get up and go to make big changes this month but don’t let family hold you back by their negative opinions. Until the 20th you may need to tackle issues on the home front with people who don’t quite have the belief in you that you have in yourself. Listen to your heart. Contracts may be on hold that only until the 12th when Mercury goes forward and this is the time to finally put pen to paper if you’ve been indecisive.

CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19)Money matters are uppermost in your mind but retrograde Mercury can throw a spanner in the works until the 12th at which point it goes direct meaning for systems go financially at this time. The conjunction of Venus, Neptune and Mars in your 3rd house of contractual agreements can be tricky but a journey to clarify matters may be in order and you should do that if the opportunity presents itself. You may be thinking of a change of pace or a change of place with these three planets occupying your zone of change and short journeys.

AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18)There is no use arguing over financial matters and this is likely because it some confusion on your part up until the 20th. Mars and Neptune located in your house of income may cause these problems. Make no important decisions on money was Mercury is retrograde until the 12th. Thereafter you’ll get clarity and be able to move forward in keeping with your own best intuition. The Sun moves to your finance sector on the 19th and this means business partnerships may also come into focus around this time.
