This is the last weekend to purchase your Summer/Fall Giveaway tickets. The drawing will be held at the Back to School Open House on Tuesday, September 22. Winners need not be present to win. Go by the school office to purchase your tickets. Our annual Blessing of the Animals will take place on Thursday, October 1, at 8:00am on the back lot of the school. Parishioners are welcome to bring their pets on a leash or in a pet carrier for this special blessing. The blessing will be given early because the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi actually falls on October 4 which is Sunday this year. For the first time ever, SHS students and staff will be on Fall Break October 5-9. Almost all of the schools in the Diocese of Corpus Christi take a fall break. The school calendar still has the required 180 school days. Many thanks to the wonderful parishioners and parents who volunteer at Castaways. This ministry has become vital to the school, and school parents are required to volunteer working there. Thank you also to the many parishioners who donate goods and furniture. The cost of the Retreat is $160. A $50 registration fee/deposit should be submitted to

hold your spot. Registration forms are available at the Church Office and at the

Church. The balance is due at the Thursday check-in Oct. 8.

Those whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for

their ministry today. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a

witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this

mission as a community of faith.
