PCA MISSION STATEMENT ~ To provide an excellent academic education with a Christian world view based on

Have you seen the LARGE trophy that is proudly displayed at

the office window? Our boys basketball team brought home 1st

place honors from the Ladd Tournament that they played in last

Friday and Saturday!! We are so proud of our PCA Eagles and

coaches!!! Great season so far! Teamwork to the end!!!

Thank you for your contributions to Operation Christmas Child! What a special

blessing you have given to a child who has very, very little! You have become a

part of an outreach program of evangelism and discipleship of children around the

world as these children have a chance to learn how to faithfully follow Christ and

then share with others! Continue to pray that these gifts reach the hearts of thou-

sands of children, giving them hope in a hopeless world!

tomorrow, Wednesday, November 16th. Are you happy with

your student’s school picture? If not, then it can be retaken,

but, the student must have the packet of pictures with them to turn in. If

you were absent on the first photo day, then you will have your picture

taken. Forms with package prices are located in the office. We encourage

all staff, full/part-time, to have their picture done.

FYI ~ Field Trip for 3rd, 4th & 5th grades ~ These grades will be taking a field

trip in the morning, Wednesday, to Wyanet to see the antique collection of Harold

Steele. They will leave the school at 8:30 and return approximately 10:15.

A special day is being planned for

our students and staff, along with

parents and friends who want to at-

tend. Beginning at 9 a.m., you are

invited to a general assembly with the

5th through 8th graders. A video

from the Voice of Martyrs will be

shown. Also, Tim Carmichael, from

the Islands of Papua, New Guinea,

will share the biblical basis for mis-

sions and challenge us to become

more mission minded. A prayer time

and snacks will also be included. The

assembly will conclude at 11 a.m.

In the afternoon, Mr. Carmichael will

share in the Kindergarten through 4

grade classes individually.

On Tuesday, each teacher will place

an emphasis on missions in their own

classroom.

How very important to share the Gos-

pel of Christ with others who have no

hope, whether on a missions field or

in your home and neighborhood!

Academy Singers Entertain at Princeton Christmas Open House

Princeton Christian Academy’s eighth grade a cappella ensemble will entertain shoppers on Sunday, November 20 from 2:00 to 4:00

during the Princeton Christmas Open House. The Academy Singers will begin caroling in the North End business district at 2:00 and

move from store to store to bring Christmas cheer to shoppers. Academy Singers include (front row, left to right) Rachel Rieker, Paige

Twidell, Gracie Pollok, Jerrey Nelson; (back row, left to right) Regan Cook, Anya Bauer, and J’Kira Wolbrecht. The group is directed

by Marty Kiser.

PCA Christmas Open House and All School Program info “All About That Baby”

Friday, December 2nd. Open House begins at 6:00 and Program at 7 p.m.

All students need to be in attendance for this program. We also ask that appropriate clothes be worn - our dress code rules apply to this! If in question, always check the dress code.

Where we walk to school each day

Indian children used to play-

All about our native land,

Where the shops and houses stand.

And the trees were very tall,

And there were no streets at all,

Not a church and not a steeple-

Only woods and Indian people.

Only wigwams on the ground,

And at night bears prowling round-

What a different place today

Where we live and work and play!

Thank you for returning all the beautiful “Thankful” feathers. Our turkey looks great!

This week we will finish up in Social Studies “American Symbols of Freedom”.

In Phonics X, x, and Z, z will be introduced with blends, sounds and words. X, x will not

have blends as it is in the middle or at the end of a word. The students will learn X,x makes

the “ks” sound. We are almost finished with all our letters. Wow, we sure learned a lot! We

will learn reading questions and the question mark. New rule about s will be taught. S can

make two sounds. We know one but it can also make the z sound like in “his”. We are ready

sentences and then drawing pictures to go with the sentence. The students are amazing me

with their reading. We will learn the new sight word “you”.

The “title” of a story will be introduced and then they will read a short story.

A reading evaluation will be given at the end of the week. We are getting ready to start our reading groups and introduce

our new Readers.

X, x, and Z, z will be practiced in Handwriting adding blends and words to write.

In Numbers we will review the 60 family and count to 79. Please keep reviewing by flash cards for recognition and for-

mation. I will send home some simple flash cards for your to use. Say a number 1-69 and have your child make the num-

ber with the flash cards.

We continue exploring riddles, rhyming words, opposites and categories.

We practice with “Adding on 1”in Numbers with objects and numbers.

The students are identifying what comes after a number and writing that number.

It is time to focus extra on what we are thankful for. In Bible Time we will have stories and discuss what we are thankful

for. God is awesome and we have so much to be thankful for. We are making a “Thankful” placemat.

Our memory verse is: “Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Psalm 106.1

Bible: We continue to learn from the book of Psalm, and the great choice

Solomon made in asking God for wisdom. Our verse this week and next is:

The kids are working so hard, learning all the music for their Christmas program “All About That Baby” which is just around the corner! Friday, December 2 at 7pm. The entire student body will perform!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:

Thank you to all those who helped fill our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

We were able to fill a box for a boy and a girl. Please pray for the children that will be receiving a box.

We will be working on spelling list 12 this week and will have our test over these words next Tuesday, No-

vember 22nd. Our verse is 1 Samuel 17:47: “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord

saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” We will recite this verse on next Tuesday as

well.

This weeks lesson in Bible class has the children memorizing John 14:6. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.

No one comes to the Father except by Me.” What a truth to hold close to our hearts! God is working in each of the chil-

dren’s lives as we talk about our Lord, the Great I Am!

This week on Wednesday, tomorrow, we have a great little morning field trip planned to visit a “private” collection of an-

tiques and museum pieces in local Wyanet! In Math we have started into division and continue to master our math facts.

We look forward to participating in the activities surrounding our animal notebook. It will keep us very busy until Christ-

mas break when they are due.

Spelling test on Lesson 12 Friday. No test next week, of course. God bless you on your Thanksgiving break. We have so

much to be grateful for! God is good!

We are beginning to learn Psalm 8. It is a psalm of praise, adoration, and worship. How appropriate for us

to meditate on these verses in this season of Thanksgiving!

Our field trip to see the antique collection in Wyanet is tomorrow morning. We will leave by 8:30 and be

back by 10:ish.

We will be giving two boxes from our class for Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child. The children

want to share and it’s a beautiful thing!

We have begun our bird watching. We hope to see many different kinds of birds out our window this winter.

I would like to challenge you to try an electronic “fast” sometime in the next few weeks of busy schedules.

Because the children are outside less, their time is often used in “screen” time, and I believe their concentration is low

here in the classroom and there does seem to be more aggression. They are thinking of how to conquer the next level or

playing out video characters in their minds. I certainly have not done a scientific study. It’s just my intuition… for what-

ever that is worth!!

6th - 8th Grade Science - Mr. Cornman

6-8 History, Language Arts, 7/8 Spanish - Mrs. Cook

6th grade: God’s Universe: What is space like? - air, friction, temperature; Galaxies: Milky Way and Dwarf Galaxy.

7th grade: Classifications in Science: plants and animals; Scientist Carolus Linnaeus, the Father of Taxonomy.

8th grade: The Atmosphere: Composition of Air - water vapor heterosphere, weather layer and more.

6th History –We are turning our focus to the original 13 colonies.

7th History- We are deep into the Middle Ages now. Students are creating a coat of arms that reflects themselves and their

family. We will display these in our room. Are architect projects turned out very well. Students may take those home

now.

8th History- Constitution class is going well. We are looking at the branches of our government and their functions.

Language Arts:

6th L. Arts- We are on Spelling list 9. After this we will take a break and work on the ACSI Spelling Bee word list. There

will be no quizzes, but a practice and real Spelling Bee the week following Thanksgiving break. We are reading a book

club book by Sharon Creech called Chasing Redbird. This coming of age story focuses on theme and motif. We will also

be writing an essay this and next week in class.

7th L. Arts- Our group is doing so very well in literature. We have begun a new novel, The Voyages of Doctor Doolittle.

We are also at the ending stages of our essay draft. The final draft is due Thursday. We have been writing one paragraph in

class for the past week. We will share and edit these as a group. The final copies are due next Wednesday.

7th & 8th grade Spanish: 8th graders presented their Spanish fashion power points today. We are looking at ways to write

and speak with more fluency. 7th graders are completing a review unit for some re-teaching. They can expect a quiz next

Tuesday.
