TEACHER’S NOTES FOR YOU!

From Mr. Odell’s desk: (God’s Word given to teachers each week and we want to share with you, also!)

Music Notes – Mrs. Marshall

1Corinthians 1:20-23:

20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made

foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom

did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those

who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ

crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to Greeks foolishness.

1 Peter 1:18-21:

18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct

received by tradition from you fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish

and without spot. 20 He was indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in

these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory,

so that your faith and hope are in God.

The Word of God is very clear that where Jesus is not acknowledged as God incarnate, crucified, risen, reigning

and returning, there is no Christianity. Only through genuine belief in the truth of who Jesus is will there be

regeneration, a newness of life which begets a new loyalty, a new love and a new life. Put simply it involves

both the head and the heart.

Dear ones, we must be faithful to proclaim the true Gospel even though many to whom we speak are unwilling to

listen or respond to the Truth.

J.I. Packer puts it very well: “The man in the street, as we like to say, sees Christianity as a moral code rather than

as good news of salvation, and Jesus as a dead teacher rather than a living Savior, and spiritual life as New Age-

type meditation for self-improvement, and religious commitment as a hobby for those who care about that sort of

thing. That we all live in God’s presence and under His eye, and that we must one day answer to him for the lives

we have lived, and that our humanity is so out of shape through sin that we need Savior as urgently as persons

with brain tumors need a surgeon, are truths that never enter most people’s minds.”

Regardless of response may we continue to be bold warriors and proclaimers of the Gospel.

We had a wonderful time listening to Christmas music and creating musical snowmen in K-5

music this week! Ask your musician to see their snowman and tell you about the music sym-

bols they used to dress them. I pray your Christmas break is blessed and full of music!

Kindergarten Tidbit ~ Mrs. Whitlock

Thank you to Cara Murray and Deanna Oliver for the Mexican snack of avocado, rice and beans with nachos and salsa.

We had our pictures taken in our sombreros. Elizabeth Zawistowski brought a piñata and we had a real “fiesta”.

We head to Peru, South America this week. We will have our Christmas Party on Friday so we will not have a taste of

Peru. Meredith Benson and Laura Richey are planning our Christmas Celebration in the classroom.

This week we will continue addition up to the Four Family in Numbers. We will review the dime, pennies and count by

tens. The double addition facts will be introduced. The students will continue to practice all their numbers with flashcard

recognition.

There will be an evaluation in Numbers.

In Phonics letters, blends, sounds and words will be reviewed with a mix of flashcards for all four. We will identify begin-

ning letters, blends and make words from the blends. We will review spelling words and write a sentence. We will be in

reading groups this week so please continue to return the Readers. Most of the students are reading at home and bringing

their Readers back for stickers. We will make sentences and read our blend books. The sight words to, do, of and for will

be reviewed.

There will be an Oral Evaluation in Phonics.

The Christmas Story and lessons will be taught in Bible time with our memory verse in Luke 2:11

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord”

Jesus’ birth was a gift that God gave because He loves all people.

This Christmas we can say yes to Jesus who brought peace and salvation to all people.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your families.

The sanctuary was indeed filled with joyous instrumental and vocal music Friday night! What a joy to play and sing

for all of you, and to join together in song rejoicing about Jesus.

I am so proud of our PCA musicians! They not only did their best onstage, but also went

above and beyond off stage. The junior high choir sat very respectfully while the band played. The band worked quickly

to clear the stage before the choir sang. Kudos, students!

Encourage your musicians to continue playing during our Christmas break. Advanced band students have

brand new music in their folders. Lesson students have exercises and music to work on in their books. All in-

struments need to go home after school this Thursday!

Parents and friends for your support and encouragement!

Mr. Luft for attentively running our sound!

Mrs. Allen for your lovely piano accompaniment!

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson for taking beautiful pictures!

Mr. Bullington and Mr. Odell for your truth filled words!

In Bible, we will be learning about the Christmas story. Our memory verse is “For to us a child is born, to us a

son is given. And the government will be on his shoulders. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor,

Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

The students are looking forward to the class Christmas Party on Friday afternoon. Thank you to Heather

Heaton and Jamie Taylor for planning the party! Thank you to Maddox and Jennifer Searl for providing the treats!

This week we are making lots of Christmas crafts, including a special craft with help from Mr. Clausen’s fifth grade

class. Thank you, Carin van den Berg for your help with this project!

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See you next year!

Year! In Christ’s love, Mrs. Cleary

We are reviewing the year’s verses this week.

Thank you to Mrs. Towne-Peldonia for driving us last Thursday for our fieldtrip. We had over 15 items

for the mitten tree and it was such a nice time at Country Comfort. The Lord has gifted us in so many ways and it is such

a privilege to share with others.

fractional equivalents in math. We are writing a book review on “Saved at Sea”. We are beginning a chapter on

“Energy” in science and we are beginning to learn of our nations growth in history. We are choosing speeches this week
