ART REMARKS ~ Mrs. Bullington

What a wonderful treat today!

We were blessed today by Mr. Harold Steele, who has recently retired from his farm in rural Princeton. He

presented PCA with a beautiful painting and 6 very large banners of the life of President Lincoln. Mr.

Steele served under General Patton in wartime, served 2 terms in the Agriculture Department in Washing-

ton D.C. under Presidents H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, and also served as the President of the Na-

tional Farm Bureau Association. The school has taken field trips to his farm and he so enjoyed our stu-

dents. He had stories to share today and we wished we had time to hear them all! We are honored that he

chose PCA to place these beautiful items as their new home! Thank you, Mr. Steele!

Bible Verse: Psalm 56:3: “When I am afraid, I will trust in you.”

Letter - N-Z Number - Review Color - Purple Shape - Star

Most of the report cards have been signed and returned. If you have not done so, please do.

Look for a separate note in the B.E.E. binder regarding the Field Trip on Thursday, April 27th to Peoria Chil-

dren’s Museum and Zoo.

In Skills Development we will compete for the super listener champ; who will be the one to repeat the longest sentence.

The students will name rhyming words in a sentence. Each group will practice and recite their poems for graduation. We

will pick partners to complete a floor puzzle. Liquids will be discussed and identified. The character development is

“being thankful”.

In Science we continue “God’s Plan for Weather”. We will identify 3 kinds of clouds and experiment with evaporation.

We will graph the weather for this week.

Our Science books will be on our desks for Thursday nights Science and Talent Night.

There will be a few items to test how good your senses are and our evaporation experiment will be on display for discus-

sion with your students.

Mr. Clausen has helped us set up an incubator so we are set up to try to hatch some eggs. Spring is here!

In Numbers we will review subtraction, addition facts, counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.

Spelling the number words 1-10, before, after and in between numbers will be practiced along with clock review. The

students will be given coins and asked to count to see if they have enough to purchase a small item at our store. We will

start the 8 addition family.

In Phonics we will review special sounds, blends, vowels and consonants. Our new special sound is “ou”. Playing

“Around the Room in 30 Seconds” will help us with fast reading of blends, one and two vowel words. Reading groups are

going great and I have seen great improvement in smoothness and expression. Thank you for all the night reading. It does

make a difference!!!

There will be a written evaluation in Phonics this week.

Everyone needs their plastic eggs and carton to be at school this week. Most of you have sent

them. I am still looking for Joe, Lenora, Myla and Madisyn’s eggs and cartons. Thank you.

In Bible time we will read the Easter Story. We will celebrate Jesus entry into Jerusalem with

palms and shouts of Hosanna. The children will learn what the word resurrection means. Our wor-

ship will include the reminder that everyone sins. Jesus paid the price for everyone's sin and be-

cause Jesus paid the price for everyone we are no longer separated from God. Jesus died and rose

because of His great love for us. We can be part of the family of God. The children will greet each other with “He has

risen”. Our own road to Emmaus will give us a chance to express sadness of Jesus’ death and gladness, running and

shouting ,”Jesus is alive” Our memory verse is “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever be-

lieves in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Last week we had some beautiful worship and prayers in Bible time. “the kingdom of God belongs to such” Mark 10:14b

Please bring your Nation posters and notebooks so that we can set these up for Thursday night. We want parents and

friends to enjoy seeing the great job you did on them!

The children have been reading all about the miracles of Jesus, the Son of God! It has been a wonderful journey through

the gospels and now we are reading about the Transfiguration and how Jesus’ face changed and He had robes of lightening

and met with Moses and Elijah on the mountain.

Luke 9:35 our Bible memory verse says, “A voice came from the cloud saying: “This is my Son whom I have chosen lis-

ten to Him.” Transfiguration means a significant change. It is such a powerful affirmation about Christ the son of God, and

what He meant to the Jewish nation but also for us today! Listen to Him!!

Sad news, we have postponed our Bile Theater skit and hope to find another time during school to perform our Gospel

message.

Studies to finish our Science will be ramping up in April and May. We plan to go on a field trip to Wildlife Prairie Park in

Peoria in May. Dates will be set very soon. I will send notes home so be watching.

Spelling is list 28. Health we will be finishing the section on disease and starting chapter 7 on First Aid. His-

tory we are studying about Robert E. Lee. Math we are working on review of division, equations and meas-

urements. Language is the study of verbs and uses in a sentence.

We are in a rhythm of learning that shows the best in these children for they are indeed all very bright and

loving children. It is indeed a joy to teach them and see them grow in Our Lord and in their learning!

We will be focusing on the Lord’s Prayer this week.

We will test on spelling list 28 Wednesday. We are studying the New Frontiers in history, continuing Astronomy

in science and learning about adjectives and adverbs in language by next week. We will begin working with decimals in

math.

We want to have a kite-flying day soon. If your child has a kite, they may bring it any day now. We will

evaluate weather on a day to day basis for “windiness”

Our Springfield trip is Friday, April 21. We will leave school at 7:45 a.m. and be home about 12 hours later!

We plan to visit the state capitol building/s, the Abraham Lincoln Museum, Lincoln’s tomb. Please call me if you have any

questions.

Have a very precious week walking with the Lord and thinking on His boundless love for you.

It is almost here! Science Fair!

6-8 grade classes are finishing up their science fair

projects!

Are you excited to see them? Great job everyone!
