 PIA NEWS VOL.5 Issue 05 PIA News Vol.5 2 n d  March 2015   HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN S DAY 2015 PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN As Pakistan wins the first match of the International Cricket Cup 2015 against Zimbabwe, all eyes are now on the quarter finals and community members are planning to once again for next match on Wednesday against Ireland.  PAKISTAN DAY: TAJDEED E WAFAA Pakistan Day will be celebrated on 21 st  March 2015 at Shah Jahan Grill, Padbury from 6.30 pm onwards which will include traditional Pakistani food. The Early bird rates are 25 dollars per head till 5th March 2015. The link to the booking is www.trybooking.com/HBSM. We are pleased to announce that MR. Ayaz Khan will be performing at the event. We are in receipt of 10 complimentary tickets for our patrons which will be distributed this week. Mr. Ayaz Khan will also be performing at another event on 14 th  March at Cannington Leisure Centre. Details are on next page. PIA AGM ON 20 th  MARCH 2015: No nomination forms are received as yet so time to get involved. All members have by now received the nomination forms with agenda for the meeting.     FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE:

    National Federation of the Blind, Scholarship Program Targeted Fields: Open to all fields. Open To Prospective/Current Graduate Students. No citizenship requirements. Eligibility Requirements Must be legally blind in both eyes. Must be planning to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a U.S. institution. Scholarships are awarded on: 1) The basis of academic excellence. 2) Service to community. 3) Leadership. Must participate in the entire NFB national convention and in all of its scheduled scholarship program activities. Personal essay. Transcripts. 2 letters of recommendation. 1 NFB Affiliate President's interview is required. Stipend Scholarships range from $3,000 to $12,000. Deadline 3/31/2015 Program Description The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) offers 30 graduate scholarships for blind students enrolled at U.S. institutions. A broad array of scholarships are offered to recognize academic excellence, community service, and leadership by blind scholars. In addition to a scholarship, each winner will receive assistance to attend the National Federation of the Blind Annual Convention which takes place in July in Orlando, Florida, providing an excellent opportunity for high-level networking with active blind persons in many different professions and occupations. These are merit-based scholarships that students of all ages and fields can receive.

    TO SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY AND THEIR CARERS

    Are you from a refugee or migrant background and live in the City of Swan, Town of Kalamunda or Town of Mundaring?

    - Do you care for someone with disability or know of people with disability in the community?

    - Do you know if they are getting the right services and supports to live a good life in Western Australia?

    - Do you know if they are facing any challenges?

    - Are you aware about the new system introduced to support people with disability, their families and carers in your

    area?

    If you answered yes to any of these questions and want to get more information about the New National Disability

    Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in the Perth Hills to support family or community members with disability, we encourage

    you to attend this meeting.
