A meeting to discuss draft Counter Terrorism Strategy is convened for 28th April. Following

invitation to comment and provide feedback, we have invited community members to engage

into discussion however only four members have been able to make it. We are very happy to

convene another meeting as we do realise that the time was quite short. Please email or

message us if you would like to be part of the discussion.

AUSTRALIAN BORDER FORCE On 1 July 2015 the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (the department) and the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (the service) will formally become one new Department, and our operational enforcement arm, the Australian Border Force (ABF), will be stood up on 1 July 2015.

The new Departments mission statement is: To protect Australias border and manage the movement of people and goods across it. Delivering on this mission statement contributes to Australias national security, a strong economy and a cohesive society. To achieve our mission, being well connected with our stakeholders is vitally important, and the CRG is a very important relationship to the WA State office as many of the CRG members are able to provide feedback to the department on the experience of our clients. The CRG also contributes towards the development of more effective, responsive, intuitive and equitable service.

SCHOLARSHIPS NOW AVAILABLE As announced by Hon. Liza Harvey on International Womens Day the applications are now open. We have contacted the department to see if there is a help desk that can help women form CaLD backgrounds to apply for these scholarships and found there is none. In that case we will be very happy to assist anyone who plans to apply for these scholarships and need support to fill in the forms and choose the option that they like.
