From the Pastor:
This weekend we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus is our Good Shepherd who wants everyone of us to have know His love and follow His way. A meditation from Blessed Charles de Foucauld may help us this week:
O Jesus, you said, “I am the door. If any one enters by me, he will be saved”… I do not want to content myself with reading your words, meditating upon them; help me, Lord, to apply them, to live them, to make them a part of my life… Help me to live by faith, leaving aside human reason, which is folly be-fore you, and regulating my life according to the words of your divine wisdom, which is folly in the eyes of men. Oh, that I may “enter through you” by loving you with all my heart… “enter through you” by imitating you… “enter through you” by obeying you. Sheep are united to their shepherd, because they look to him, follow him, and obey him; may I follow you and love you, my divine Shepherd, by copying their example; may I gaze on you in con-templation, and follow you by imitating you, and oh! may I obey you.
By following the Good Shepherd, we not only live truly Christian lives, but open doors for others to do the same.
With love and prayers,
Fr. Francis

"In temptation we ought not to say, "I
will do," "I will say," for it is a species of
presumption and self-confidence; we
ought rather to say with humility, "I
know what I ought to do, but I do not
know what I shall do."

Marian Shrine (Haverstraw) designated one of five Holy Sites for Jubilee Year of Mercy
Cardinal Dolan decreed that, beginning December 13, 2015, and throughout the Jubilee Year of Mer-cy, the following shrines and churches in the Archdiocese of New York are holy sites and places of pil-grimage where a Holy Door, a Door of Mercy, will be opened and where the clergy, religious and faithful can obtain the Jubilee Indulgence:
• St. Patrick's Cathedral (Manhattan)
• Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral (Manhattan)
• St. Frances Cabrini Shrine (Manhattan)
• National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Middletown)
• National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians (Stony Point)
All those who, on pilgrimage, enter a Door of Mercy with the proper intention and disposition, and fulfill the condi-
tions ordinarily attached to a plenary indulgence can obtain a Jubilee Indulgence once daily either for them-selves or for the souls of the faithful departed.
The usual and prescribed conditions for gaining a plenary indulgence of temporal punishment due to sins already
forgiven are:
Baptized Catholics in the state of grace (free from mortal or grave sin) who have the intention of gaining the indul-
gence must:
Have an interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial or less grave sin;
Go to Confession (Sacrament of Reconciliation) within 20 days after performing the indulgenced work
(pilgrimage to the Door of Mercy);
Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father within 20 days after performing the indulgenced work. This prayer is
up to the individual, but customary and suggested prayers are: the Profession of Faith (Creed from the Mass)
or one "Our Father" and one "Hail Mary."
It is appropriate but not necessary that Sacramental Confession, reception of the Holy Eucharist, and prayer for
the Pope's intentions take place at the time of the indulgenced work.
