A word from the President...
Just one minute more…..how many times have we asked
for that one simple thing? Sometimes we get lucky and more
time is granted to us but, sometimes, we are not so lucky and
our world is turned upside down before we even know we are
spinning!
For instance, how many of us have been walking across a
room, or strolling down the streets with our dogs or just for
the pleasure of it or maybe checking out the canal in our own
backyards and…. Whoops, we find ourselves suddenly on
the ground without even knowing how we got there!
be the next accident in the making!
Being prepared with updating our emergency contact information or posting our current medical needs
on the fridge and in our car’s glove compartment are simple methods of protection against that minute
we no longer have control of our own lives, but how many of us remember to do that? Guilty again!
We live in such an amazing community where we have the opportunity to help each other, share
information about our comings and goings, leave keys with the office or neighbors in case we are in
trouble, and, in general, keep an eye on one another... not to be nosy, but just for the sake of caring and
concern. I am now aware I have to turn over a new leaf!!! How about you?
On a different note… you will find the 2020 Census Form in this issue of the Mainlander and you are
urged to complete and return it to the office as soon as possible. A census is required every two years
simply for the purpose of our keeping our 55+ status with HUD, the State of Florida regulatory agency
which monitors whether or not a community can retain their senior housing status. This information is
not shared with anyone and it is appropriate for EVERY person in each household to be accounted for,
even if they are short or long term renters. Your cooperation is most appreciated because we will have to
go door to door to reach any who do not complete and return the forms by April 1st.
As usual, we will be honoring all our volunteers this month… Brunch Workers, COP members,
Mainlander deliverers, committee members, dinner dance hosts and all others who give their time and
energy into making this a wonderful place to live. Be sure to check your name off on the sign-up sheet
located in the office. And… thank you so much for your service, it is a pleasure to be honoring you.
Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead on the 8th and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all, Irish or not!
pam
At our age, accidents are a common denominator and we need to be on guard at all hours of the day and night. Short of sporting body armor and a hard hat, we seriously need to focus on having good walking shoes, having furniture placed safely (and not too much of it), wearing reflective clothing when out at night and, most importantly.... keeping our cell phones with us at all times so we can at least call for help when we need it. Personally, I am guilty of not heeding these simple rules myself but also realize I could

2020 MAINLANDS 1 AND 2 CENSUS
Inserted in this issue of the Mainlander is the form
for our community Census. We are required to take
this census every two years to ensure we are main-
taining our 80% population at the 55 and over age
range. OUR CENSUS HAS NOTHING TO DO
WITH THE NATIONAL CENSUS which is also
being conducted in 2020. We do not share any of
the information we receive….. it is only reported as
a total number of residents on a letter which we
send to the Housing Authority for verification.
PLEASE fill out the form in whichever language
you prefer (English, French or Spanish) and return it
to the of-fice as soon as you are able. We would
prefer that you voluntarily complete the project for
your home as having to go door to door to retrieve
the form is not appealing to anyone.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and,
if you have questions or need assistance,
please call the office at

David Morin
David Morin's music is pure, authentic
and from the heart. Self-taught and
passionately committed to being a career
artist and all that choice entails, he's
blessed with the ability to turn strangers
into fans. A guitar virtuoso with a knack
for making a solo performance sound
like an entire band, Morin's riffs bring to
mind the likes of blues and funk masters.
Playful hints of disco and pop add retro
flavor to a contemporary soul aesthetic
that's as accessible as it is seductive.
David Morin will give a 2-hour show
with a 15-minute break. He will perform
‘50s to ‘80s songs in English and French.

PANCAKE BRUNCH
Sunday, March 15, 2020
9:00 A.M. TO NOON
in the CLUB HOUSE
Being part of the Sunday Brunch staff is an adventure only those who have lived through it can appreciate. You may call it “hard work” and you wouldn’t be wrong, except those who do it come back month after month! Why? Because of the wonderful and joyful camaraderie involved. Of course, we can squeeze in a few “newcomers” especially in the months when our faithful snowbirds decide to enjoy a cruise or two. However, we always have room on the “cleanup team” if you are interested.
Donation $ 5.00
2007 2006 2006
The Sunday Brunch season is drawing to a close. You may not know it, but this
monthly activity is accomplished thanks to at least 40 of your friends and neighbors
giving many hours of their time in joyful camaraderie. Supplies need to be purchased,
tables to be set before the actual event and then prepare and serve the meals. What’s
left to do after all this is done is to clean up the place and leave it ready for the next
activity. We are looking for a few good people to join the team and donate a couple of
hours once a month in support of this worthy activity. Please call the office and leave
your name and phone number.
We always appreciate extra help. Some of our
“regulars” sometimes do not show up… going on a
cruise, receiving visitors from up north, etc… so, if
you are available and ready to help please just
show up and say:
“I’m ready to help!”.
