with US President Barack Obama as the special guest of the ceremonial parade. Main theme of 2015 Re-public Day Parade was Women Empowerment (Nari Shakti) and for the first time the Republic Day parade witnessed an all-women contingent of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
Like every year, this year also Leo Club of Indore celebrat-ed this day with the kids of Nemi Nagar School. The club coordinates with the School authorities for the require-ment (if any) for the kids and fellow Leo members help in fullest of their capacities just to see the smile on the young faces. Glimpses of the event @ Nemi Nagar School are shared in this issue.

Wheels. Leo Parth Nyati & Leo Kritika Thakuria presented a superb presentation on WOW. They included the WOW experience of some Leo members in Video, which was really mind blowing.
Past President Leo Harsh Ruthia along with Leo Karn Thakuria presented the detailed plan of The Leo Trip to Kanha National Park in March. Leo Prachi Bobra and Leo Nikhil Chandnani explained the importance of attending Multiple Convention. With such major announcements meeting was adjourned with national anthem. By the end of the meeting Chilled winter breeze literally had made everyone freeze. The taste buds started getting excited as the mouthwatering dinner was placed after the meeting. Every member enjoyed the food along with Gulab Jamuns & Ice cream as desserts.
Now, it was time for some music, the entertainment part of the event. On the
i
big projected display and with all the microphones ready with the singers, we started the much awaited karaoke night. Initially there was a shyness to hold the mic, but as 2-3 people started, the other people were pretty excited about their favorite tracks. Some sang for their better halves, some for themselves, some for friends and some sang just for enjoyment.
Members sang tracks of Lataji, Adnan Sami, Anu Malik, Udit Narayan, etc. While singing, the pakodas of different kinds and tea/coffee were floated on the floor. With every sip of coffee
the songs became more melodious.
In the end I would like to conclude by saying that it was a perfect night with perfect people and perfect music. It was a memorable experience and an event to
remember.Reported by Leo Nikhil Chandnani

ndia is a developing country with a developing population, developing economy, developing education. Door Step School has taken the big leap to change the present and to make 100 percent literacy a reality. Mrs. Rajani Paranjpe, the founder member, who says We go where ever the children are and start the class right there.
WHAT IS THE MAIN OBJECTIVE THAT DOOR STEP SCHOOL IS AIMING AT?
MRS. PARANJPE: Hundred percent literacy through total school enrollment and quality education for all.
EDUCATION MOVES ON TO EVERY DOOR STEP WHAT WAS THE INITIAL THOUGHT PROCESS BEHIND THIS PHILOSOPHY?
MRS. PARANJPE: I took this path because I always liked to work for and with people. I selected Primary education as the mission of my life because I felt: Education or rather illiteracy was the problem we needed to address on a war footing. We focused on 3-18 age groups, because my experience says it is far easier to teach a child than to teach an adult. After having a clear idea of what I wanted to do, we founded the organization in 1988-89 in Mumbai. We named our organization Door Step School because we go where ever the children are and start the classes right there. E.g. we held classes on pavements or on road construction sites, building construction sites outside big markets, railway stations etc. We have added a few more programs along the way but the core programs have remained the same.
COULD YOU PROVIDE A BRIEF INSIGHT INTO THE PROJECTS THAT YOU RUN?
MRS. PARANJPE: Computer as a teaching aid - NFE (NonFormal Education) classes helping reduce illiteracy.School on Wheels, a bus which is designed as a class room helps us to take classes for children who are on streets and there is no place to gather them and teach them. It helps to cover those who would otherwise remain untouched.School and Community Libraries as well as Reading Classes based in schools help in improving reading ability which is basic to any educational achievement

MYTH Avoid Hair Dyes Chemicals from hair dye are absorbed through the skin only in minimal amounts that arent harmful. But strong odours from hair treatment products make some pregnant women feel nauseous. So use them in a well-ventilated space with a fan and try to avoid dyes with ammonia.
MYTH Caffeine Is a No-No
There does not appear to be any relationship between caffeine consumption and preterm birth,. Also, if a pregnant woman drinks less than 200 milligrams of caffeine per day -- the amount in about one 12-ounce cup of coffee -- theres no clear evidence she faces any increased risk of miscarriage or low birth weight.
3#
4#
MYTH Youre eating for two
Yes, youre eating for two -- but that doesnt mean two adult-sized servings are necessary.
The average woman with a normal weight pre-pregnancy needs only about 300 extra calories
per day to promote her babys growth.
MYTH
Flying Can Increase Your Risk of Complications
Dont worry about the small amounts of radiation that pregnant women might encounter while passing by
or through an airport X-ray machine or flying at high altitudes. We get exposed to radiation all the time from being on the ground, and certainly flying increases that
a bit.

ear friends,
While i was teaching CA students in my early years, I always emphasized on a glass of water theory. The amount of water filled in the glass symbolizes success. And
success comes from two things - TALENT and HARD WORK. Talent is god given intelligence which is the pre filled water in the glass. It will vary from person to person. But, to achieve success, one has to fill the glass with the water of hard work.
We see so many ordinary IQ people succeeding in their lives. That is because there is no equal to hard work.
Today, my children are proudly, a part of the Leo club of Indore, which has provided them with a dynamic forum to grow in all spheres of life. I myself had been a member of the club and would love to express that the club has positively evolved in sync with the present times. The Learn by experience attitude adopted by young adults of the club, teaches them to be pro active and more confident in their day to day lives.
I would like to congratulate the club and the members for its accomplishments. Good going!
Wish you all, the best in lives. May you keep working hard and keep growing!

Tanjore paintings are the ultimate forms of expression of love of
Godhead, truth, beauty and devotion.
By Leo Dr. Ankita Ruthia
Tanjore paintng is a classical South Indian paintng style, which was inaugurated from the town of Thanjavur. Tanjore paintngs are panel paint-ings done on wooden planks. In modern tmes, these paintngs have become souvenirs for festve occasions, colorful pieces of art to decorate walls.
Tanjore Paintngs are made on canvasses. The canvas for a Tanjore paintng is usually a plank of wood, over which a layer of cloth is pasted with Arabic gum. The cloth is then evenly coated with a paste of limestone and a bind-ing medium and let to dry. The canvas is now ready for paintng. First draw a de-tailed sketch of the paintng on the canvas. A paste, made of limestone and a binding medium, is used to create 3D effect in embellishing and ornamentng the theme using a brush.
24 Karate Gold foil and gems of varied hues are used in selected areas like pillars, arches, thrones, dresses, etc. The shine of the gold foil lasts forever. After this colors are painted on the sketch. Tanjore style paintngs are also drawn on glass by using different techniques. The characteristcs of the Tanjore paintngs are its brilliant color scheme, decoratve jewelry with stones.
