INSIDE This Issue
It Will Never Be the Same
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. - Deuteronomy 6:4-7
I commonly read this passage as a reminder to new parents the responsibility they have in raising their child in the values and practices of their faith. It continually stresses the importance of helping your family understand the importance of communicating your faith in every aspect of life, i.e. “when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” For years, I’ve gone to this passage as inspiration for other families. Now, I look at it for how it applies to me.
Life will never be the same.
At this point, I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that statement. Since finding out last Fall that Susan and I would welcome a new addition to our family with the birth of our son Grayson, we’ve heard our fair share of insight into how the experience will change everything. From sleep habits, finances, schedules, based on what we’ve heard, the demand for flexibility, whether welcome or not, increases when a baby enters the picture.
In the midst of all the advice, stories, and warnings, what I more often hear are reflections of joy. Sleepless nights, midnight feedings, fatigue, exhaustion, and any other variety of complaints seem to pale in comparison to the joy of watching this new life grow, play, crawl, walk, speak, etc. Then, I hear the warnings to enjoy it as much as possible, because it will be gone before you know it.
Because what is recognized in those trying days of caring for a child is the precious nature of human life found in those connections. It makes all that work just part of the process to experience the grandness of simplicity. Those routine tasks, that might not seem so simple at the time, they become a part of life, the new normal, really help us connect to a depth of love that creates memories and stories that seem to pass way too fast because of how good they really are. What happens is the recognition of something great occurring right in our midst. While it might not always register in the moment, we see the results and recognize that the change life has brought is welcome, indeed.
In the course of hearing all those stories, and in awaiting the change this little fella will bring to my life, I’ve come to realize all those people who’ve shared their stories were right in a way.
Life will never be the same.
It will be even better.

Please note: If for some reason you are not available to help on the
day that you volunteered to work, we ask that you please don’t forget to find a replacement for yourself so there is adequate coverage
during the worship service. Also, if you have a change in the schedule
for the children’s nursery or children’s church, please contact the
monthly coordinator so that the change can be made prior to the printing of the worship bulletin. However, any permanent changes in
the schedule should continue to be handled by the lead coordinator.
Thank you for all your help.

Youth News
Shared Life When you boil it down, ministry is nothing more than shared life. It is getting together with other people (believers or nonbelievers) to spend time with them. This is evidenced by the early use of house churches. People would open up their homes to invite in others for “church.” Once there, they would enjoy a meal together (the original way to commemorate the Lord’s supper). God has so designed the church that we have but to spend time with others in order to help them grow. What comes out of this natural time together is the overflow of Jesus. Jesus is such an important part of our lives that by merely being around
others we will naturally overflow the love of the Lord. This is the natural state of the believer. However, we all have our bad days. There are times when we must fight the sinful nature and work to love others. There are times when we will need to apologize to one another or make reparations. These are things we should expect while we live in a sinful world. God has gifted us to aid one another when we gather. Some of us are blessed with the gift of compassion, while others of us wisdom, and still others giving. These are the things we need in order to function together as the local body of Christ. We need each other in order to hold on to
faith in an unbelieving world. So, as we enter this summer and have opportunity to spend time together, take advantage of spending time with one another. You will most likely bless someone and receive a blessing. Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. - Hebrews 10:25

part of the world is waking from its slumber. I call it a symphony for there are so many sounds of the birds, frogs, crickets, geese and others, each with there own rhythm, beat, tempo and pitches, both high and low, which remind me of how majestic our Creator God is. He blesses me each time that I take the time to worship. In these moments, I am reminded that my times of worship are not about me, but about our Creator.
Worship is a lifestyle! Often we think that worship is something that only occurs on Sunday mornings when we gather together for “corporate” worship. This time we share together is very important and necessary but should be the culmination of a week of personal worship. I am an early riser and like to take my coffee and go sit on the front porch before the sun comes up. This is a special time of “worship” for me when I can talk with God and listen for His voice. It is also a time when I experience God’s symphony of nature as our
In his book, “A Heart for Worship”, author Lamar Boschman writes, "Worship is first and foremost for His benefit, not ours, though it is marvelous to discover that in giving Him pleasure, we ourselves enter into
what can become our richest and most wholesome experience in life." I urge you to find the time to worship Him daily! It will enrich your moments of “corporate” worship.

OCC June Collections
KBC is collecting items for the Samaritan’s Purse shoebox ministry every month. For the month of June we are collecting hygiene products: toothbrushes, mild soap (in a plastic bag), washcloths, combs, hairbrushes.
The collection boxes are at the bottom of the stairs in the Education Building and in the hallway at the back of the Sanctuary. Thank you for your contributions!
June 29th is Food Pantry Sunday, so don’t forget your food pantry donations! Supporting our local Food Pantry is an on-going mission project of the Angelic Ministers. This ministry works best when everyone donates to the food pantry and then the Angelic Ministers will make arrangements to have the food delivered to the local pantry. Food collection barrels are located in the education building for you to place your food donations. Our local food pantry is very specific in what they give out, so please make sure you purchase only what is on the list and please be mindful of expiration dates. They will
not accept expired foods.

WEIRD ANIMALS Where Jesus’ Love is One-of-a-Kind
VBS Kickoff: July 6th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Knightdale Station Park
God filled the world with a lot of crazy creatures … including you! When kids feel weird, different, or even lost in a crowd – nothing compares to the extraordinary love of Jesus. Kids need to know they are loved unconditionally. Today’s kids, families, relationships are broken. Kids feel like they have to measure up – whether it’s in sports, music, or school. With the support of this year’s VBS theme, kids will walk away knowing that “Weird isn’t a bad thing. When you hear it, you think you are unique and that God created you unique.”
VBS Needs your help! Please prayerfully consider helping this year and using one of the many gifts God has blessed you with.
