John 21:12 During the 2014 Homecoming worship service, former KBC interim pastor Jeff Roberts spoke about the last meal Jesus shared in the company of his disciples in comparison to the first meal shared with the disciples following his resurrection. The difference, he explained, was that the Lord’s Supper we commemorate during our own worship, was an evening meal, the last Jesus would take with his closest followers before his impending crucifixion. It was a meal to serve as the close of his time with them. In contrast, upon his return, Jesus invited the disciples to join him on the shore to share a breakfast together, the first meal of the day. The symbolic nature of these events communicates a key message to us. The Lord’s Supper was a meal to remind us of Jesus’ sacrifice, his fellowship with the disciples and promise to them that the elements of this meal had a purpose and meaning transcending their ability to provide sustenance. This breakfast, cooked on the shore after the disciples had spent all night fishing, marked a new day. A new day had dawned, not only for those disciples, but all followers of Christ. This meal signified a change had occurred. They now enjoyed fellowship with the risen Savior, and everything would be different from what they’d experienced before. 2014 was tough. With the challenges we faced as a church, God provided us the endurance and perseverance to see it through, to arrive at the dawning of a new day and a new year. Here we are, not just 6 months later, but venturing into a new year full of hope and enthusiasm for the blessings God is sure to provide. We look forward to what lies before us. The dawning of this new day will give us new opportunities, new experiences for ministry, fellowship, study, and growth. It’s another chance to relish the rich provisions we enjoy from a loving God. A New Day

Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. The dawning of this new day will give us new opportunities, new experiences for ministry, fellowship, study, and growth. It’s another chance to relish the rich provisions we enjoy from a loving God. Please note: If for some reason you are not available to help on the day that

you volunteered to work, we ask that you please don’t forget to find a

replacement for yourself so there is adequate coverage during the worship

service. Also, if you have a change in the schedule for the children’s nursery

or children’s church, please contact the monthly coordinator so that the

change can be made prior to the printing of the worship bulletin. However,

any permanent changes in the schedule should continue to be handled by the

lead coordinator.

Thank you for all your help.

Youth News

Bring a Friend Day – Sunday, January 18

The youth are picking a friend or two to pray for and invite to church this Sunday. This Sunday evening we will meet and eat, then have a photo scavenger hunt to invite friends to. Prizes will be awarded. Please pray for our youth to reach out to those around them to share the good news. Week of Warmth – Final Collection day is Sunday, January 25

Beginning January 18th and culminating on the 25th the

youth will be collecting new/gently used clothing, blankets, and home furnishings to give to local people in need. We will sort the items on the 25th for donation. If anyone has clothes hangers or garbage bags/cardboard boxes to collect the clothes please leave them in the conference room or contact Joe (252-531-6812). There will be collection boxes out this week for drop offs. Please be a part of this opportunity to share God’s love and help those less fortunate.

Holy Father,

God of our yesterdays, our today, and our tomorrows.

We praise You for Your unequaled greatness.

Thank You for the year behind us and for the year

ahead.

Help us in Your new year, Father, to fret less and laugh

more.

To teach our children to laugh by laughing with them.

To teach others to love by loving them.

Knowing, when Love came to the stable in Bethlehem, He

came for us.

So that Love could be with us, and we could know You.

That we could share Love with others.

Help us, Father, to hear Your love song in every sunrise.

in the chirping of the sparrows in our backyards,

in the stories of our old folks, and the fantasies of our

children.

Help us to stop and listen to Your love songs,

so that we may know You better and better.

We rejoice in the world You loved into being.

Thank You for another new year and for new chances

A New Year Prayer

Super Bowl Party – Sunday, February 1 at 6PM – Location TBA

every day.

We pray for peace, for light, and for hope, that we might spread them to others.

Forgive us for falling short this past year.

We leave the irreparable past in Your hands, and step out into the unknown new year knowing You will go with us.

We accept Your gift of a new year and we rejoice in what’s ahead, depending on You to help us do exactly what You

want…

I say it again, we rejoice!

In Jesus name,

Amen.

It has been a blessing serving with Pastor Trent and the entire staff at KBC and know that great things are ahead for the ministry of this church. Please know that

As we wind down our ministry with you this month, we do so with mixed emotions. We are very grateful for the privilege we have had to serve with you and share our lives with you. Though we will miss each of you, we are excited about what God may have for us in the future. We rest on His promise in His word from Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans
