    *The Greeting

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with

    you all.

And also with you. *The Kyrie (spoken)

In peace, let us pray to the Lord.

    Lord, have mercy.

For the peace from above, and for our salvation let us pray to the Lord.

    Lord have mercy.

For the peace of the whole world, for the wellbeing of the church of God, and for unity of all, let us

    pray to the Lord.

    Lord, have mercy.

For this holy house, and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord.

    Lord have mercy.

Help save, comfort, and defend us, gracious Lord.

    Amen.

    *The Prayer of the Day

O God of justice and love, You illumine our way through life with the words of Your Son. Give us

the light we need, and awaken us to the needs of others, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

    Amen.

    Congregational Meeting (8:45 a.m.) and (11:00 a.m.)

    The First Lesson Amos 5:18-24

18 Alas for you who desire the day of the LORD!

Why do you want the day of the LORD?

It is darkness, not light; 19 as if someone fled from a lion,

    and was met by a bear;

or went into the house and rested a hand against the wall,

and was bitten by a snake. 20 Is not the day of the LORD darkness, not light,

and gloom with no brightness in it?

  • 3

    21 I hate, I despise your festivals,

and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. 22 Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings,

    I will not accept them;

and the offerings of well-being of your fatted animals

    I will not look upon. 23 Take away from me the noise of your songs;

I will not listen to the melody of your harps. 24 But let justice roll down like waters,

and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

    Psalm 70

The Second Lesson 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

18 Alas for you who desire the day of the LORD!

Why do you want the day of the LORD?

It is darkness, not light; 19 as if someone fled from a lion,

    and was met by a bear;

or went into the house and rested a hand against the wall,

and was bitten by a snake.

20 Is not the day of the LORD darkness, not light,

and gloom with no brightness in it?

    21 I hate, I despise your festivals,

and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. 22 Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings,

    I will not accept them;

and the offerings of well-being of your fatted animals

    I will not look upon. 23 Take away from me the noise of your songs;

I will not listen to the melody of your harps.

*The Gospel Acclamation (spoken in unison)

Alleluia. Keep awake and be ready, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.

    Alleluia. (Matthew 24: 42,44)

    The Holy Gospel Matthew 25:1-13

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the

bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 When the foolish took their lamps, they

took no oil with them; 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was

delayed, all of them became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! Here is the

bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those bridesmaids got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise

replied, ‘No! there will not be enough for you and for us; you had better go to the dealers and buy

some for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy it, the bridegroom came, and those who were

ready went with him into the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. 11 Later the other bridesmaids

came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I do not know you.’ 13 Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

    Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth,

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

    born of the Virgin Mary,

    suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried.

    He descended to the dead.

    On the third day he rose again;

    He ascended into heaven

He is seated at the right hand of the Father

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

    the holy catholic church,

    the communion of saints,

    the forgiveness of sins,

    the resurrection of the body,

    and the life everlasting. Amen.

    Dedication of the Quilts

    The Prayers of Intercession

With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of

    God’s creation.

The Minister concludes each petition with “Lord In Your Mercy,” and the response is, “Hear our

    Prayer.”

    The Lord’s Prayer

    L. Lord, remember us in your Kingdom and teach us to pray:

    C. Our Father, who art in heaven,

    hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is

    in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

    and forgive us our trespasses

    as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

  • 6

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory

    forever and ever. Amen.

    SENDING

    *The Blessing

Almighty God, Father, + Son, and Holy Spirit, bless you now and forever. Amen.

    Response: Thanks be to God!

    Angel Tree

We again have the Angel Tree in the Narthex. Unfortunately, we are still waiting

for families to be chosen by AIM, due to COVID-19 and given to us for Christmas giving. In addition to selecting names from the Angel Tree in-person

like we usually do, for those concerned about being out in public, you also have

the option of making a donation and someone from WELCA will do the shopping

for you. If you would rather participate in this way, just make a check out to

“Holy Trinity Lutheran Church” and put “Angel Tree” in the Memo. If you have

any questions on this, please contact Roz Eckardt.

PLEASE NOTE!!! Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting will take place TODAY.

    1) Electing four new Council Members for a 3-year term.

    2) Approving the 2021 Church Budget.

With the threat of COVID-19 and in order to practice social distancing, we will be conducting our

Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 8 in a different manner. According to

our Church Bylaws, proxies and absentee ballots are not permissible for this meeting so we have

decided to be a little creative in order to meet safely to conduct the business of the congregation. We

have decided that we will still have our Congregational Meeting on November 8, but NOT during the

Sunday School hour and NOT in Fellowship Hall.

Instead, our meeting will take place at both the Early and Late Services that day during the worship

service. At the designated time during the service, we will take 5-10 minutes to complete the voting

process to elect new council members and to approve a budget for 2021. In order to make this

happen, you have a little homework on your part to complete before the meeting. You have a list of

the eight Council nominees as part of this newsletter (electing four), as well as the 2021 Proposed

Budget, as in years past. However, to vote on the budget, is a little more of a challenge since we will

not be able to handle discussions as part of the congregational meeting. Along with the budget, is a

“Narrative,” explaining the basic changes to next year’s budget compared to this year’s budget. If you

have any questions or comments, you are asked to contact Diane Richardson, our church treasurer,

and she will go over your budget questions, before the Congregational Meeting.

Since the budget has already gone through the Support Committee and the Church Council, and next

year’s proposed budget is slightly different from this year’s, we will be voting to approve the church

budget with a simple yes or no answer as part of the meeting. In the unlikely event, that there happens

to be a tie in the voting process for new council members, we will have a tie breaker vote the

following Sunday on November 15. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding in

this time of COVID-19. Our goal is to take care of the business of the congregation in an efficient and

safe manner. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Pastor Fischer.

family is interested in meeting Pastor Fischer in the church sanctuary to receive private Holy

Communion, simply contact him to set up an appointment.

The Church Council met recently via Zoom and decided that the sanctuary CAN now be used for

funeral/memorial services during this time of COVID-19, for the immediate family only.

Please note, during this coronavirus time, WELCA will not be preparing or serving bereavement

    meals for the family.

During this COVID-19 time, there will be no Combined Worship Services on our 5th Sundays.

contact the church office or Pastor Fischer. As a reminder, this code is not to be shared outside of

church family. The new church key will also give you access to all buildings as well. As for the florists who deliver altar flowers on Saturday, they have been given a code of their own to

    use.

Guidelines for Worship in the Sanctuary

You may enter the service through the front doors or the ramp door. The doors will be either propped open or someone will open the door for you so that you will not have to touch the door

    handle.

Offering plates will not be passed during the worship service but instead, be placed at the entrances.

To help facilitate social distancing, we will be using every other pew in worship, and using the ends of each pew. Each seat will be marked with a bulletin.

The pews unused from the Early Service will be used at the Late Service.

Surfaces will be cleaned after the Early Service.

To minimize possible exposure to the virus, worship services will be shorter than what we are accustomed to.

All hymnals have been removed from the pew. We will continue to use a bulletin containing the worship service.

Several recent studies have found that forceful, sustained breathing, such as during singing, appears to pose a greater danger of spreading the coronavirus. To minimize these dangers, the

singing of hymns, the Kyrie, and the Psalms, will be omitted. In addition to a prelude, we will

be using a soloist for a hymn and speak the remaining parts of the liturgy.

The Sharing of the Peace has been omitted.

We will be refraining from handshaking and hugging.

No nursery or Sunday School will be offered at this time.

The distribution of Holy Communion will be modified to minimize touch.

We will be using wafers instead of bread at this time.

Cups of wine and grape juice will be pre-filled, and cups will be spaced out on the serving tray to eliminate accidental touching of nearby cups.

For the protection of others, the wearing of masks is strongly encouraged during worship. You are encouraged to bring your own mask, however, masks will also be available at the door.

We will continue to record one of the worship services every Sunday morning and post these on the internet, as we have been doing.

    A PRAYER FOR VETERAN'S DAY

    Almighty and merciful God,

We give you thanks for all the men and women who have served in the armed

forces of this nation. We lift up our veterans in prayer, and ask your blessings

on all those who have given of themselves in times of peace and in times of

war. For those who have been injured in body or spirit, we ask for your healing,

and we ask that you guide us as we seek to help veterans who are returning

    home.

Give courage to those who are far from home, and grant that they may feel your presence. For families

of those who are deployed, we ask that you grant them courage and strength. For families who have

lost loved ones due to war, we ask that you wrap them in your comforting arms and give them strength

to meet the days ahead, remembering your Resurrection promise.

We also ask, gracious God, that you give all leaders a hunger for peace. We pray for a time when

nation will not lift up sword against nation. We pray for an end to hostilities and resentment. And we

ask that you give us all an understanding of those things which make for peace.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

REMEMBER VETERAN’S DAY IS NOVEMBER 11TH

“A veteran is someone who wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America for an amount up to and including

    their life.”

    Advent Services

We will still have our three Mid-Week Advent Services this year with a few

modifications in the worship. Services will begin at 7:00 PM each evening on

December 2, 9, and 16. We will be using the Service of the Word (not our

traditional Holden Evening Prayer) to eliminate congregational singing. There will

not be any Advent meals preceding the services. These services will be recorded.

    Congregational Christmas Pageant

Our Christmas Pageant will still take place this year on

Sunday, December 13, but with some modifications. The

Pageant will take place at both worship services that day to

spread out our attendance. The children and youth will not be
