TRANSCRIPT
Dear friends in Christ:
I’m now into my 7th month serving as your interim pastor.
The time between regular, “settled” pastors may seem
long. I would say that the process here at Holy Trinity is
pretty typical for a healthy congregation. Still, it is not
unusual to ask, “Can’t the Spirit work any faster?”
It should be apparent to anyone who comes among us
that there is an abundance of people—of all ages—
fully invested in the life of this community. I’ve said it
before: the strategic plan has been an important tool in moving this ministry for-
ward (i.e., getting some things done), but it’s also provided an opportunity for a
growing number of people to step forward and get involved. You have made
room at the table for all who seek to participate in what God is doing among
you. You have the resources you need to continue to thrive!
Holy Trinity is intent on finding the right pastoral match. I believe that will hap-
pen. The Call Committee is working hard on your behalf. I do not sense impa-
tience or desperation during this interim time, which is not always the case.
Some congregations get stuck – they believe they can’t continue to move for-
ward until a new pastor comes, or they believe a new pastor will. Neither of
those things are true at Holy Trinity. The fact that worship attendance and giving
have continued to rise is evidence, but less so than the spirit of hopefulness
that permeates this place.
The right pastoral leader will be very important, but the investment and engage-
ment of the congregation is essential. You have that here, and the pastoral
leader who will have the honor of walking alongside of you in the coming years
will benefit from that, as well.
Blessings on this journey!
Interim Pastor Hans Lee

Approve Agenda: Motion by Kienow, 2nd by Dietrich Approve February 2017 Minutes: Motion by Dietrich, 2 nd by Kahnke with change to amount of an-nual website upkeep fee to $1,000. SAT Update: Karen Taylor, Shared Ministry and Kahnke will connect on the team ’s budget.
Luke Friendshuh, Spiritually Alive, Lenten spiritual testimonies are going well. Small group development to
expand participation is ongoing.
Action & Decision Register: Dietrich reviewed.
Mission & Vision Discussion: Council reviewed the current mission and vision statements during
Council Retreat and believe they both are fitting. They are posted on the website as official statements.
Pastor's Report: Building use, and assessment is beginning in next few weeks. Hans and Sonja be-
lieve that Holy Trinity should view the youth and family ministry role as a congregational ministry rather
than one just for families with children. Now is the time to start forming search, prepare now and start actu-
al search after new pastor begins.
Treasurers Report: Kahnke reported. February revenue was more than planned budget.
Old Business: Property assessment team has formed. Pat Remfert, Ted Trachte, George Winn, Je-
romy Torgerson have agreed to work on this team to prepare strategy to address this matter.
Jon Bergquist presented Council with three local bids in addition to the other two provided earlier to re-
place windows. He recommends Champion Window Company because they offer a 100% lifetime guaran-
tee on the windows installed and will reuse the interior trim. Their bid is $18,445 to replace the windows in
south entry, Fellowship Hall and Sonshine. Council wants to learn what is meant by “lifetime” guarantee.
Hans will talk with Jon. Torgerson will provide a Mission Moment about the offering envelopes prior to Me-
morial Day Weekend.

Eric’s Council letter to the Holy Trinitarians (May 2017)
As one of the new council members this year, I thought I would use this month’s letter to take
the chance to introduce myself to the congregation. I’m Eric Fiala, and along with my wife Jen
and our sons Lucas and Dylan, we have been members at Holy Trinity for just under two years.
We have lived in Lonsdale for 10 years and our oldest attends Eagle View Elementary in New
Market. We have been so blessed to find the congregation and community of Holy Trinity. Eve-
ryone has been so inviting and welcoming to our entire family and the Wednesday evening ser-
vices have been wonderful for our busy family, especially during hockey season!
This warmth and sense of community is a huge reason why I felt so comfortable joining council
as such a new member to the church. As I have found out, Holy Trinity has gone through many
changes and will continue to see change in the future. Being a newer member, I hadn’t given
much thought to the upkeep of the building, the administration of all the services the church of-
fers or just how many opportunities to serve exist. Just a few short months on council has
helped educate me on just how much work the staff and volunteers of this church put in to mak-
ing everything run smoothly.
I know how it feels to be part of a new church, a new community, but I urge our new families to
feel empowered to volunteer and get involved. It can be a little scary or even confusing at first,
but know that input is valued and your efforts are appreciated, especially in this climate of
change.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how amazing all the Easter services and the faith walk shar-
ing has been leading up to Easter. Hopefully all of you had a chance to hear at least one of the
5 amazing stories that our fellow members shared about their own journey through life and their
faith. This all culminated with our Easter Sunday services that included brilliant special music
and the always powerful message of the resurrection. What a wonderful way to end this most
Holy Week!
Peace,
Eric Fiala

Gideons International
We will be blessed Wednesday evening service, May 3rd and Sunday morning service, May
7th, by our annual visit from a representative with Gideons International, an association of
Christina business and professional women and men dedicated to telling people about Jesus
through service, personal testimony, and providing Bibles and New Testaments. While they
are often recognized for their work with hotels, they also place and distribute Scriptures in
strategic locations (prisons, hospitals, clinics, domestic violence shelters, all branches of mili-
tary services and such) so they are available to those who want them, as well as to those who
may not know they need them you will be encouraged by the outreach and fruit of their minis-
try! We hope this early announcement gives you an opportunity to come prepared to give a
donation to their ministry in an offering taken at the church services those days. On April 26th
and April 30th a short video will be shown at the Mission Moment time.

Page 5 Page 8
As always, the school years go by so fast! May is always a
sad month as we will have to say goodbye to many of our
preschoolers moving on to kindergarten. We will have a
busy month with walking fieldtrips, hopefully a lot of play
time outside, and our “bike parades” on the last days of
school.
I am so grateful for the members of Holy Trinity who have made donations to our
scholarship fund, and those who have offered to donate their time to our program!
So far we will be able to award scholarship money to two families that qualify next
year. I can’t Thank You enough! We are always accepting donations of money or
time, there is no deadline.
We are entering month 5 of our 9 month Parent Aware rating process. Our Parent
Aware coach attended the Sonshine Board meeting in April and spoke to our
board about this process and how it is going. She had nothing but great things to
say about our preschool program. The coaching, resources, advice, learning
tools, and director training that we have received for no cost, has been incredible.
We also received a $500 grant to put towards classroom supplies. The boxes have
started to arrive and it is like Christmas around here!
We will be having a summer camp the first two weeks in June for preschool age
children from the ages of 3-5. The themes are “Backyard Fun” and “Ooey Gooey
Messy Fun.” The camp will include a lot of outside time, bug collecting, messy pro-
jects, science, and much more! All are welcome, including children that do not at-
tend Sonshine Preschool. Registration forms can be found at the church welcome
center, or call 758-3513 for more information.
Happy Spring!
