The group is best known for such tunes as “April in Paris,” “The Count Basie Remembrance Suite” and “One O’Clock Jump.” Now conducted by Scotty Baraha-rt, the Grammy-winning orchestra blends the best elements of blues, classical and swing.

Melvin Seals & JGBMontage Music Hall | Mar. 4 The jam band, Melvin Seals & JGB hails from San Francisco, California. Under the leadership of Seals, a member of the Jerry Garcia Band until Jerry’s death, this act pays tribute to Garcia by performing his songs and remain-ing faithful to his style.

Rod PicottAbilene Bar & Lounge | Mar. 5 Singer/songwriter Rod Picott is an alt-country/folk/Americana artist out of Nashville. His debut album, Tiger Tom Dixon’s Blues, was released in 2001. That CD was followed by Stray Dogs, Girl From Arkansas, Travel Log Volume One, Summerbirds, Sew Your Heart With Wires, and Welding Burns. Last year, he released Hang Your Hopes On A Crooked Nail. The album includes the hit song, “I Might Be Broken Now.”

St. Vincentw/Jenny HvalWater St. Music Hall | Mar. 5 Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, will be remembered by local fans for her 2013 appearance at the Rochester International Jazz Fes-tival. The multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter’s 2007 debut album, Marry Me, was followed by Strange Mercy in 2011; and a duo release with David Byrne titled Love This Giant in 2012. Her latest, self-titled album just won a Grammy as “Best alternative Album.”...The Norwegian vocal-ist, Jenny Hval, has four albums under her belt including 2013’s Innocence is Kinky and last year’s collaboration with Susanna Wal-lumrod titled Meshes of Voice.

Adam HunterComedy Club | Mar. 5 - 7 Adam Hunter is a bundle of energy as he headlines all over the country, putting his heart and soul into every performance with an act that is brash and hilari-ous - dealing with relationships, his dysfunctional family and life observations. Adam was a top 8 finalist in the 2007 edition of Last Comic Standing and has appeared on The Late Late Show and Show-time’s White Boyz in the Hood. Adam was the subject of the MTV show, True Life I am a Comic.

National Dance Company of IrelandRoberts Wesleyan College | Mar. 6 The National Dance Compa-ny of Ireland brings its “Rhythm of the Dance” show to town just in time to set the mood for your St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The presentation takes its audience on an epic journey from ancient mythology, to the travels of the Irish emigrants; and from the rolling hills of Connemara, to the modern skyscrapers of New York City. Nicola Kennedy, from Belfast Ireland, performs as the lead female dancer, backed by a live band, three tenors, and over twenty dancers who bring this story, heralded as a new era in Irish entertainment, to life.

Suicide Silencew/Emmure, Within TheRuins & Fit For An AutopsyWater St. Music Hall | Mar. 7 The heavy metal “Stronger Than Faith Tour” comes to town featuring Suicide Silence. Win-ners of the Revolver “Best New Talent” award, the band was originally fronted by Mitch Lucker who died in 2012. Hernan “Eddie” Hermida took over leads in 2013; and they have gone on to release You Can’t Stop Me on Nuclear Blast Records...The deathcore band, Emmure, is out of NYC. They’ve released seven albums to date including their latest, Eternal Enemies...Within the Ruins, a metalcore band out of Western Massachusetts, have three EPs and four albums to their credit, the most recent being Phenomena...Fit for an Autopsy, a deathcore act from New Jersey, is fronted by Greg Wilburn. Their latest release is Hellbound.

He tells us he dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start play-ing rock ‘n roll. (That’s his story, folks, and he’s sticking to it!) And so, Igor and other Russian friends started playing music on the streets of Santa Monica CA; and thus, the Red Elvises were born.
