Ozone in shoulder pathology

• Shoulder pain can be associated with impairments and marked disabilities.

• The first step is to determine whether shoulder pain originates from the shoulder region, or from the cervical region.

• Most shoulder problems fall into four major categories:

– Tendon inflammation (bursitis or tendinitis) or tendon tear

– Instability

– ARTHRITIS

– Fracture (broken bone)

• Other much less common causes of shoulder pain are tumors, infection, and nerve-related problems.

Ozone in spine conditionsNECK PAIN may be caused by many conditions

• Trapezitis

• Bursitis around scapula

• Fibromyalgia

• Arthritis

• Prolapsed disc

• Tumour or infection

• Trauma

• For prolapsed intervertebral disc in cervical spine, ozone nucleolysis has been popular, but we have less number of patients.

• For fibromyalgia ,bursitis, trapezitis, I/M injection ozone at tender points gives good results.

LUMBAR SPINE PAIN includes many conditions, but we treat following conditions by ozone.

• Prolapsed intervertebral disc

• Facet joint arthritis

• For prolapsed intervertebraldisc, ozone nucleolysis gives very good results.

• In our clinic, 70% patients are satisfied with ozone nucleolysis.

• The remaining 30% had central protrusion, where caudal epidural was more effective than ozone nucleolysis.

• It should not be done in dessicated and degenerated disc.

• Ozone in lateral foramen gives good results as it reduces inflammation around dorsal root ganglion, but one should take care that ozone should not be delivered in epidural space.

• 80% patients has good pain relief.

• Many patients get relief by medicines and physiotherapy.

Ozone in ankle and foot pathology

There are many conditions like,

• Calcaneal spur

• Plantar fascitis

• Synovitis in small joints

• Tarsal tunnel syndrome

• Tenderness due to osteoporosis

• We give local injection of ozone with or without steroid.

Ozone in Rheumatoid Arthritis

• A lady, doing labor job had severe joint pain (shoulder pain, neck pain, back ache, leg pain) and was not able to perform routine work.

Conclusion

• In musculoskeletal disease, anti inflammatory drugs, anti biotics and steroids are effective in improving pain, Range of motion and disability during the early stage.

• The ozone therapy is also effective but has delayed onset of action as compared to the medicines.

• Combination of low power medicines and ozone therapy gives better results in late stages also.

• Ozone therapy is safe on– Blood pressure

– Infection

– Blood sugar
