FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME TODAY’S FOCUS: DO GOOD, THEN DO BETTER
Though few of us are called to do grand and publicly glorious things for Christ, each of us is called upon to bring some goodness into the world, and to do a little bit better at that every day. St Francis de Sales advised the Cure’ of Get, a priest he coun-seled, to do what he was doing and do it better if he could. In that way he would see the glory of God. The same is true for us. We don’t need to do extraordinary things to be Christ’s light in our world. We simply need to use our God-given gifts, whatever our way of life. Then people will see the presence of God that lessens the darkness of evil and oppression in our world.
Isaiah 58: 7-10 Psalm 112: 4a
1 Corinthians 2: 1-5 Matthew 5: 13-16
Holy God, you choose the weak and make them strong in bearing witness to you. Thank you for the gifts you have giv-en me, even those places where my need for you is more than evident. Help me use them to bring your light to the world and free those who are oppressed in any way.
GOD’S WORD ON LOVE In about 9 days we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day, What does God teach us about love? Love is patient & kind, it doesn’t brag or boast. Love con-quers pride and envy. It is never self-engrossed. Love is not rude or angry. Forgiveness counters wrong. Love stays away from evil, and it sings a truthful song. Love is full of trust and hope and it always per-severes. Love never fails, it’s faithful, to the Bible its sincere. If you give this kind of love to everyone you meet. You’ll be loving right in harmony with God’s own sweet design.
REMEMBER US LAST: When you are preparing you will and estate plan remember those closest to you.. spouse, family members and loved ones. Then remember St. Anthony Church with a residual gift that defines your Legacy of Faith as a member of our parish community. Please call 330-744-8451, ext 325 for information.

PRAYER INTENTIONS OF POPE FRANCIS COMFORT FOR THE AFFLICTED
That all those who are afflicted, especially the poor, ref-ugees, and marginalized, may find welcome and com-fort in our communities.
DAILY OFFERING O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of our bishop and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those recommended by our Holy Father .
