What is Global Warming ?

Rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans

Page 4: Effects of global warming
Page 5: Effects of global warming

-The average temperature of Earth according to NASA figures is 15°C. (59°Fahrenheit)

-The hottest temperature ever recorded on our planet was 70.7°C (159.26°Fahrenheit) in the Lut Desert of Iran in 2005.

-The average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8°Celsius (1.4°Fahrenheit) since 1880

-Between 1870 and 2004, global average sea levels

rose 17 cm (6.7 in)

Causes of Global Warming

• Greenhouse effect• Pollution• Deforestation

Page 7: Effects of global warming

The Greenhouse Effect

Page 8: Effects of global warming

Greenhouse Effect

• Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, ozone and nitrous oxide hold heat in the atmosphere creating a greenhouse effect.

Page 9: Effects of global warming

Green House Gas

• Water vapor (H2O)• Carbon dioxide (CO2) • Methane (CH4) • Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s)

Page 10: Effects of global warming

Pollution• Automobile

• Industrial activities

Page 11: Effects of global warming

Automobile

• Burning Fuels ---> CO+Co2+CH4+Other gases

• Fuel includes coal, Oil, Petrol, Diesel, Kerosence, ect..

Effects of global warming

Page 16: Effects of global warming

Melting polar ice caps will raise ocean levels;

Page 17: Effects of global warming

Heat waves and droughts will be more frequent.

Page 18: Effects of global warming

Forest fire increased due to hot winds

Page 19: Effects of global warming

Up to 300,000 people a year dying – partly from the spread of tropical diseases.

The Spread of Disease

Page 20: Effects of global warming

More than a million species worldwide could be extinct by 2050.

Page 21: Effects of global warming

Increase in frequent volcanic eruptions due to rise in

temperatures

WHAT CAN WE DO?

Page 23: Effects of global warming

Energy Conservation

Use Alternate sources of energy • Solar Wind Hydroelectric

Geothermal

Page 24: Effects of global warming

REUSE

•Paper

•Covers and boxes

•Plastic bags

Page 26: Effects of global warming

REDUCE USE

Plastic bags and cups do not decompose so harmful to environment

Paper bags and cups are eco friendly and easily decomposable

Reduce the usage of cars for short distances

Walk /use cycles for short distances
