Published his first book of poems at the age of 20

Moved to London and worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation

Wrote stories and plays, including Under Milk Wood, and A Child’s Christmas in Wales

DYLAN THOMAS

Began giving public readings, which gained him popularity

Thomas’s verse is similar to that of the King James Bible and Welsh preaching

Known to be talkative and witty, but suffered from alcoholism

DYLAN THOMAS

Drinking eventually interfered with his marriage to Caitlin Macnamara

Also affected his writing; he only produced a small amount of poetry

Died of acute alcoholism on November 9th, 1953 at the age of 39
