This vigil is being spearheaded by Holly Sparkman of the Rock Island Rotary and is a collaborative pro-ject between all the Quad Cities Rotary Clubs. Together we can make a difference.

The 4 Way Test
Of the things we
THINK SAY or DO
1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and
BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all
concerned?
This is a forwarded message for Christmas from Sikanda, which is the NGO our four clubs worked with last year (in partnership with the Rotary Club of Gualegeta, Oaxaca) on a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant for the "Gardens For Life" project for the garbage pickers in Oaxaca, Mexico. Jim Petersen and Bill Tubbs were at the Oaxaca landfill in 2011 and saw the miserable conditions the people were forced to live in. The houses they show here are mansions by comparison.
Christmas is a time of solidarity... Last year, with your support, we built two houses
for the families who live in Oaxaca's landfill, earning
every day less than $2.5usd. This season, we can show
the world that we change the life of somebody again!
Eco-Houses of hope Between 2009 and 2012, SiKanda has built 7 hous-es using over 5,000 recycled plastic bottles and 5,000 recycled milk and juice packages (tetrapak). Each Eco-house is built in only 6 days with the families who live in the dump, our staff and different volunteers from Mexico and abroad. Your help is very important to improve the quality of life of those who work on our trash and waste every day. Join the challenge !
