Cancer survivors and per- sonal caregivers are very special to us and that’s why we are planning on a recep- tion dinner again this year to be included in the Relay For Life event planned for Friday, June 12th. Last year we had about 70 survivors and caregivers and this year we are hoping to have 100 people come to the Gooding County Fair- grounds that evening for a celebration of their sur- vivorship. Please register now with Cody Varin at 934-5963 to receive a sur- vivor T-shirt and reserve a spot for dinner. The handprints the sur- vivors made last year are being made into quilts that will be auctioned off at this year’s Relay. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Mark June 6th on your calendar for the Gooding County Relay Poker Run city to hold cats and dogs until the owner can be located. The City of Wendell asks that residents purchase an an- nual dog tag to help with the safe return of your pet in case they become lost. To claim a lost animal, call 536-5161 or 420-6863. Unclaimed animals will be put up for adoption. To adopt, call one of the above numbers or goto FaceBook - Wendell Animal Control or Anythings Pawsable. This Friday and Saturday, March 20th & 21st, the Magic Valley annual Cowboy Poet’s Gatherin’ will be held in Hager- man, Idaho, at the old high school gym- nasium (across the street from the Amer- ican Legion Hall - 218 N State Street). From 11 to 4 each day you can listen, free of charge, to the best poets and mu- sicians in the West perform this unique- ly American art form. The evening performances begin with a pre-show at 6:15 and the main show at 7:00 p.m. Suggested dona- tion for admission to the main show is $12. As in years past, this event is a fundraiser for the American Legion and Idaho ‘N’ Heroes. On Saturday morning from 7 to 10, the Senior Center (located on the south end of the Hagerman City Park) is hosting a Community Break- fast. Cost of the breakfast is $8.00. Over 30 perform- ers will at this year’s gatherin’ including Bill Chiles, Layle Bagley, Stampede, Saddlestrings, and many more.
