Remember Waldo? He was a cartoon character created by Martin Hanford in the

1980’s who had brown hair, glasses, a stocking hat, and matching red and white clothes. Waldo traveled on a world wide hike with a walking stick, kettle, mallet, cup, backpack, sleeping bag, binoculars, camera, snorkel, belt, bag, and a shovel. Invariably Waldo would lose one of his possessions and it was up to us to find it, but first, we had to answer the question, “Where’s Waldo?” simply because he blended in a huge overview of people. Sometimes Wal-do would be where you least expected him. The Wisdom of Waldo. Lately it seems everyone is asking a similar type ques-tion, “Where is Tee?” Recently I have been in Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania. Be-fore the week is out I may be in Nevada. If I don’t get off the porch I will be found in Idaho, at least for a few days. Thinking about that reminds me of some “Wisdoms of Idaho.” A cattle drive may start with a pickup, but usually ends with a horse... To feed a man for a day is to fish, to make him a fisherman teach him in Idaho... To beat your neigh-bor is a day at the tractor pull after you have had a pleasant breakfast together. The atomic generation is tested and proven with a sub-marine in the desert... When traveling by darkness be sure both flashlights have batteries... Idaho has been a hot spot for years, the lava flows show us that... The call of the wild is often done with a shovel and a roll of toilet paper. Every highway runs into a road, every road runs into a dirt road, every dirt road runs into a trail, every trail stands on its own... Indians were the earliest map makers of our state... Volcanic soil, cool nights, proper water, and North-ern Hemisphere sunlight make the best potatoes... Sturgeon fish are the example that Idaho existed before it does now. Water is the basis for legislature... Locust prove their value only in fish bait... Branding time separates mine and yours... Hashbrowns can not completely fill the plate, there must be room for gravy... Our state’s borders weren’t built with fences. Wapiti - ghost of the forest... Sheep - 10,000 coyotes can’t

be wrong... The Russians have noth-ing on Idaho Vodka makers... Gold is a fever that affects many a man’s eyes... Cattle make money while you sleep... Mosquito abatement - send more tourists, the last ones were delicious... Pass the pota-toes, please. A double date is two “Cups of Tee” read out loud.
