Our varsity boys played hard andexhibited great sportsmanship in

their away game against Holy Cross.Although we did not come away witha win in points, it was a win in other

ways!

Our girls JV team fought hard onTuesday against Holy Cross andcame out with another convincing

win.

Psalm 98:1a“Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things!”

”As we have explored Old Testament Psalms during the first months of the schoolyear, we have emphasized that the people of the Old Testament loved to singpraise to their God. The Book of Psalms was the songbook of the Old Testament.

Our psalm for this week celebrates God’s gift of song, “Sing to the Lord a newsong” (v. 1). God’s people continued to sing as we turn the pages to the NewTestament. When Mary was told by the angel that she was going to be the motherof Jesus, she sang a song of praise that we still sing in church today. It is calledthe Magnificat, “My soul magnifies the Lord.” The Christmas story in Luke chapter 2tells us that when the angels came to the shepherds, a host of angels praised Godwith a song, “Glory to God in the highest.” God’s story of salvation includes songseven when we remember Jesus dying for us. We especially sing on Easter Sundaywith the “Alleluias” of Jesus’ victory over death and the grave. Our church historytells us that Martin Luther and his family loved to sing. Some of us are great singers and love to sing. Others of us may not have the sameability to sing, but still we offer our praise to God for sending Jesus as our Savior.There will be many opportunities for the church to sing as we gather on ChristmasEve and Christmas Day for special worship service. Won’t you sing with us? Bringyour family and friends to join in the song.
