THE HITMAN BLUES BAND HOPE TAVERN HOLTON LE MOORSunday 12th June 2016 – 4pm The Hitman Blues Band featuring The New York City HornsThis coming Sunday’s Blues Session at the Hope Tavern brings the big sound of The Hitman Blues Band with the New York City Horns from New York (USA) on their third visit to this intimate venue.Getting worldwide recognition with their six albums that get better and better culminating in two Grammy Award nominations, the Hitman Blues Band give a live show that engages the audience with great musicianship, great music, and a liberal dose of humor, The Hitman Blues Band will light up your day for sure.Made up of Russell "Hitman" Alexander (guitar, vocals), Mike Porter (bass, vocals), Kevin Rymer (keyboards), Guy LaFountaine (drums), Eric Altarac (trumpet), Michael Snyder (saxophone), and Al Alpert (trombone), the band knows how to blend a historic genre with modern flare. This is the type of music that will captivate and keep you thrilled from start to finish.Playing modern “amped up” as opposed to rock/blues,this band have already had six successful tours of the U.K. and two in Europe, playing at clubs and festivals including the Great British R&B Festival at Colne, the Eel Pie Club, The Limelight Theater, the BluesExpress Festival in Luxembourg, the Maryport Blues Festival (Main Stage), and many

others. Of course, at home in the U.S. they’ve played up and down the eastern seaboard, working clubs and festivals as a four piece or with their new horn section added. As one reviewer said - “The music of The Hitman Blues Band will

make you glad that music exists in the first place.” The show starts at 4pm and the Door charge is £8.

CAISTOR LIONS BEER FESTIVAL – THE BIG LINE-UP!With the Caistor Lions Beer Festival now less than two weeks away, the line-up of 22 guest ales can be revealed. The Festival will be held in Caistor’s South Street Park from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on the evening of Friday 17 June and on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 18 June from 12:00 noon until 11:00 p.m.

As would be expected, Lincolnshire brewers will be well represented with ales on offer from Tom Woods, Batemans, Horncastle Ales and Heckington’s 8 Sail Brewery. Out of fairness to the rest of the country, there will also be beers from the farthest reaches of England: Sheffield’s Abbeydale and Kelham Island breweries, Adnam’s from Suffolk, Bespoke from Gloucestershire and Dark Star from West Sussex. The Midlands will be represented by Titanic Brewery at Stoke-on-Trent, Lymestone Brewery at Stone, Derbyshire’s Thornbridge and Wolverhampton’s Marston’s breweries. Skinner’s Brewery from Cornwall, and Theakston’s from North Yorkshire will be there whilst Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame from Kent will complete the line-up.

A selection of lagers, ciders, wines and soft drinks will also be available, as will be hot and cold food throughout.

A great line-up of musical entertainment has been booked for both days of the Festival. On Friday evening, there will be sets from Robyn, Nick Akester and Scunthorpe band Ramble Gamble whilst Saturday will see The Caistorways, Out Door Cats, Two Dollar Bill, Moon Raiders, Sunny and Boo Boo, The Skiffs and The Trip Down Project.

Face painting, a photo booth and, on Saturday afternoon, a Tug of War contest will complete the entertainment.

Admission to the event will be £3 and included in this price will be a commemorative souvenir beer glass. Tokens may then be purchased and these will be presented at the bar in exchange for drinks. To comply with licensing laws, an adult of 18 years or over must accompany all persons under the age of 16 and those fortunate enough to look younger than 25 years may be asked for proof of their age. Acceptable forms of proof will be a Pass I.D. Card with hologram, a photocard driving licence or a passport.

Caistor and District Lions have for many years staged enormously popular events such as November’s Caistor Bonfire and the annual St George’s Day and Christmas concerts so there are high expectations for their first Beer Festival. As with all other events, money raised from the Festival will go towards funding local good causes so not only will the Festival be an opportunity to sample some of the country’s finest ales, it will help support the local branch of the world’s largest service organisation in the work that they do helping communities and needy individuals. For further information on this event and other Caistor and District Lions activities, please contact Caistor Lions on 07908 182963 or by email to mailto:[email protected]

BT CABLE INSTALLATION SCAMWe have been advised that residents in Lincolnshire have been contacted by telephone by a person claiming to be from ‘BT’ stating that work needs to be carried out to their property.

SCAM DETAILSA telephone call is received from ‘BT’ staff stating that extension cables need to be laid along

the owners drive way. A team of workman have been instructed to carry out the work the next day.

ACTION TO TAKE

We can confirm that this is a scam. BT will not send a team of workman the ‘next day’ as all their work is scheduled in advance.

Do not enter into a conversation with these persons, simply replace the receiver, and report any calls to Lincolnshire Police on telephone number 101.
