Google’s email service is having a facelift with the introduction of a new mobile app it has simply called, Inbox.

It is the company’s attempt to reorganise overcrowded inboxes that frustrate users when they are trying to check their emails.

What’s this all about?

What makes Inbox different?

Inbox is a more organised email communication centre that aims to decrease the hassle of sifting through unwanted emails to find worthy content.

The app reads your emails for you; it analyses the language of your received emails and highlight key information from important messages.

This segregated information will be very useful for people who read their emails on smart devices while on the go.

Inbox features you never knew you wanted

Google’s app has the added options to snooze, pin, or sweep away messages.

If you swipe left on a subject line, you will get asked if you want to create a timed response for the received email.

Pinning places read emails on to your home screen.

Finally, to ‘sweep’ your inbox is to mark everything in your inbox as read.

Why is Google updating email?

Sundar Pichai, senior vice-president of Android, Chrome and apps, summed up the need for an update.

‘For many of us, dealing with email has become a daily chore that distracts from what we really need to do - rather than helping us get those things done.’

So what now?
