Opening Hymn — The Church’s One Foundation

The Church’s One Foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord; She is his new creation by water and the Word. From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride; With his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died. Elect from every nation, yet one o’er all the earth; Her charter of salvation: One Lord, one faith, one birth. One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, And to one hope she presses with every grace endued.

Text: Samuel J. Stone, 1839-1930. Tune: AURELIA, Samuel S. Wesley, 1810-1876.

Penitential Act B:

Priest: Have mercy on us, O Lord. People: For we have sinned against you. Priest: Show us, O Lord, your mercy. People: And grant us your salvation. Gloria (sung)

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord, Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Responsorial Psalm — Psalm 67

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. (All bow at the following words through “and became man.”) For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the father and the Son, who with the father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Preparation of the Gifts

May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His holy Church. Sanctus

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Memorial Acclamation

We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. Invitation to Communion

Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Please remain at your seat to receive Holy Communion. The ministers will come to you through the empty row in front of you.

As the minister approaches, please stand if you are able and remove your mask. You are asked to please receive Holy Communion in the hand.

After receiving Communion, you may kneel or be seated and replace your mask.

Communion Hymn — Here I Am, Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send? Refrain: Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people’s pain. I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? (refrain) I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? (refrain)

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Closing Hymn — O God, Our Help in Ages Past

O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home.

Under the shadow of your throne your saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is your arm alone, and our defense is sure.

Before the hills in order stood, or earth received its frame, From everlasting you are God, to endless years the same.

O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, Still be our guard while troubles last, and our eternal home.

PARISH NEWS Dear Parishioners,

A television show my Mom use to talk about was Madam Secretary. The show chronicles Secretary of State, Elizabeth McCord’s diplomatic moves as she addresses crisis after crisis around the world. The show is very well done, and it provides humorous moments, especially where McCord’s children are involved.

I was thinking about the show when I stumbled upon an article regarding international diplomacy in these try-ing times. The article quoted many world leaders, some who have died, and others who have retired. There was one quote by former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher which was particularly interesting. She said, “Being power-ful is like being a lady — if you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.”

While Margaret Thatcher’s response did make me smile, it also got me thinking. If we applied her idea to our-selves, what sort of conclusions could we draw from it? If we have to tell people how good we are — well, are we? If we have to tell people how kind we are or how humble we are — well, are we? And, if we have to tell people we are Christian — well, are we? I guess this could go for all the postings on Social Media as well.

Jesus promised to send us the Holy Spirit, who would empower us to share the Good News. The question we have to ask ourselves is — is that the power evident in the way we live our lives?

Have a great week!

Love, Fr. Bill P.S. I will be away next weekend celebrating a wedding out of town. It is a very, very small wedding.

Parish Nurse Tip of the Week Immunizations are Important

Because of immunization programs, many of the diseases that vaccines prevent are now rarely seen in our country. But, the germs that cause the diseases still exist; and we still see some of these dis-eases such as: whooping cough, measles, and mumps in small numbers. If we stopped vaccinating our babies, children, teens, and older adults, we would see a resurgence of these viral and bacterial dis-eases. Numerous countries around the world are still without widespread protection. Check with your primary care physician regarding all of your family members’ immunizations. Are they up-to-date? Completed? Any missing? Now is the time to be assured that we are all medically covered!

Reminder to Live in HOPE

The future does have a name, and its name is Hope. Feeling hopeful does not mean to be optimistically naïve and ignore the tragedy humanity is facing. Hope is the virtue of a heart that doesn’t lock itself into darkness, that doesn’t dwell on the past, does not simply get by

in the present, but is able to see a tomorrow.

— Pope Francis

What are the ways we can be hopeful, even as we contin-ue to face uncertainty? One way is to reflect on Scripture. In Romans 8:24-25, we read, “For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance.” So far this year, there are times we did not see the glory of God amidst the struggles, cancelations, and changing plans. But, like in Romans, we must hope for what we cannot see. That is the confidence we have in God. Spend some time read-ing, reflecting, and asking God to reveal His hope to you. Think of where you find hope and also opportunities where you can provide hope for others.

We, the Church, need to hope for what is not seen and look to tomorrow optimistically. Our hope is Jesus Christ. God is for us and with us. In hope we are saved!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit

you may abound in hope.” — Romans 15:13

If you are struggling with keeping a balance these days, we have individuals who will simply listen and help you to find your peace again. You can meet in person or over the phone. Interested? Contact Suzanne Marciniak at 419-475-4348, ext. 109, or [email protected].

Kudos to CK’s Beyond Our Walls (B.O.W.) Ministry Recently the B.O.W. Ministry completed a project at St. Paul’s Community Center in downtown Toledo. It included installing an ac-cordion door for a closet; putting in a glass recep-tion window; and knock-ing out closet walls to enlarge the reception ar-ea. The team at St. Paul’s was very grateful for their work as it required quite a bit of skilled labor.
