Air Rifle Classes

This program is an introduction to shooting sports. The primary course objectives include instruction of safe air gun handling practices, sight alignment, trigger control and an introduction to international style shooting events. Participants must be accompanied by a responsible adult. For the safety of all participants, adults, and coaches, any student that demonstrates inappropriate or disruptive behavior will be removed from class immediately. All required equipment and materials including air pistols, supporting stands, pellets, targets, and eye protection are provided.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Fall Flag Football league is for boys and girls ages 6-10. This is a recreational, non-competitive league designed for the participant to have fun and learn the basicskillsofflagfootball.Footballspikesandmouthguardsarerecommendedbutnotrequired.

Course ContentTotsIf skater needs assistance, is unable to get across ice alone or falls often this level is recommended. Instruction includes getting up from a fall, marching in place, forward marching and beginning stops.Basic 1 & 2If the skater can make it across the rink by him or herself without assistance. Skaters will learn skating and gliding forward, stopping, two-foot hops, and bubbles, as well as an intro to backward skating and gliding. Skater should pass Basic 1 to move to Basic 2.Basic 3 & 4Skaters will learn forward skating using the blades rather than marching and be introduced to edges, crossovers & three turns. Skater must pass Basic 2 to move to Basic 3 and pass Basic 3 to move to Basic 4. Basic 5 & 6 Skaters will learn backward edges, backward crossovers, hockey stops, and one-foot spins, as well as t-stops, spirals, lunges, and bunny hops. Skater must pass Basic 4 to move to Basic 5 and pass Basic 5 to move to Basic 6.Basic 7 & 8Skaters will focus more extensively on edge work, turns, small jumps and spins. Skater must pass Basic 6 to move to Basic 7 and pass Basic 7 to move to Basic 8.

Air Pistol Shooting Sports

Volleyball LeaguesVolleyball teams will participate in league play and a tournament. A match consists of three games to 20 points (rally point system). All leagues are 6-player coed leagues and men cannot outnumber women on the court. This league will be focused on recreation and fun. Be sure to sign up early as space is limited.

Dog Obedience

The West Fargo Park District offers an 8 week dog obedience training. Dogs must have distem-per, parvo and bordetella shots before attending lessons. Puppies may not have all of the above shots, but should have their shots up to date. Dogs must be on a leash. The class instructor is Doug Spieker.

West Fargo has outdoor skating rinks with warming houses located in North Elmwood Park and Herb Tintes Park.

Regular warming house hours are:

Mondays through Fridays: 4:00-8:00pm Saturdays: 10:00am-8:00pm

Sundays: 12:00-8:00pm These hours may change due to weather,

activities or other reasons.

Rinks without warming houses are located in Maplewood Park and Rendezvous Park. Outdoor rinks usually open in late November depending on weather conditions.

Outdoor Skating

Tae Kwon Do is a Korean style of martial arts. The class instructor is Master Jerry Jenson, WTF certified. He holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hap Kido. First time participants receive the first 2 weeks free. Sessions run on a month to month basis, therefore you can join at anytime. November 19 Snowmobile Safety CourseTime-------------------------9:00am-1:00pmLocation--------------------Veterans Memorial ArenaFee--------------------------$20The snowmobile safety certification class covers important safety information including: safe operation of snowmobiles, proper riding gear, proper riding techniques, helmet safety and North Dakota laws and guidelines. Riders 12 and older are required to either possess a valid driver’s license or a snowmobile safety certification. The Veterans Memorial Arena features an indoor 1/8 mile walking/jogging track. Track schedules are posted monthly at the arena information center and at wfparks.org or call the Park District Information Line at 433-5363 and press #2 for the Veterans Memorial Arena updates.

Arena & LobbyRental Information

The Veterans Memorial Arena, the lobby, the multi-purpose and meeting rooms are available for rent to public and private groups. For rental details call the Arena Manager at 433-5370.

Basketball

A 33' X 60' basketball court is available in the Veterans Memorial Arena Community Room. To reserve, contact Vets Arena at 433-5370.

Fitness equipment is available for public use at no fee. The room includes a treadmill, recumbent bike, universal weight machine, free weights and elliptical machine. Must be 18 years of age or older to use this faciltiy.
