Mission Statement

Fremont Adult and Continuing Education is committed to student success and community enrichment. Our goal is to provide accessible, equitable, and innovative quality education and support services to diverse adult learners in pursuit of growth through college pathways, job training, career advancement skills, and lifelong learning opportunities.

Dear Community Members, Fremont Adult and Continuing Education has some new and exciting opportuni-ties for adults in the community. If you are interested in improving your skills to begin a new career or to advance in the field you are already in, join our new engineering pathway. We have a brand new computer lab with AutoCAD and an instructor who has years of experience working with a variety of drafting soft-ware programs. We will train you and provide ongoing support so that you can take and pass the Autodesk Certified User Exam for AutoCAD, as well as prepare you for practical uses of the software. In addition, you will create a portfolio of projects to showcase your mastery of AutoCAD and SolidWorks. This pathway, inclusive of two classes, a year of ongoing lab access after the course is complet-ed, and free college and/or career counseling, is available for $2,000.00 per stu-dent. Financial support is available to students in need. Ohlone College is also partnering with us to provide two additional engineering courses for students to earn the Autodesk Certified Professional Exam for AutoCAD and to learn Solid-Works. These non-credit courses are offered here at FACE, free of charge, and will also support any students who wish to improve their skills and/or continue their studies in engineering at Ohlone. There are hundreds of designer/drafter jobs currently in the greater Bay Area in a variety of industries. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn high-demand skills that will catapult you into a great career! We are also very excited to be able to offer our BankWork$ Program, an 8-week training for careers in the banking industry, free of charge. We offer four cohorts per year here at FACE, and assist all graduates with resume building, job place-ment, and ongoing support for up to one year after graduation. Our bank part-ners attend a graduation and hiring fair at the end of each 8-week session, and our graduates are hired within a few weeks. Join us today for these exciting opportunities! ESL Classes are Free ! Literacy, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Classes Offered

ESL classes teach grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, speaking, and life skills to non-English speaking adults. English language civic lessons and computer skills are also taught as part of the curriculum. Special interest classes focus on special as-pects of English, such as listening and speaking, American pronunciation, idioms, gram-mar, vocabulary, writing, etc. We offer a wide variety of days and times to suit your needs. Free babysitting for children from 2-11 years of age is provided during most ESL classes.

Do you want to learn English? Can’t come to class? Join the Distance Learning Program at Fremont Adult and Continuing Education! Meet with an experienced ESL teacher two to four times a month to check your progress, take tests, and get new assignments. We offer online courses, DVDs, CDs, and workbooks.

Improve your English skills in grammar, writing, vocabulary, reading, speaking, and listening. Learn English at your own pace with study-at-home materials for all ESL levels. DVD/workbook refundable deposit is $20. Some workbooks are available for purchase. You can also attend the Open Online Computer Labs Monday through Thursday at 12:00pm—1:00pm and 6:00pm—7:00pm for help with DL assignments.

The Distance Learning Mini Lab is open for online students! Students may go to Room 2 during of-

fice hours to use our computers, laptops, and iPads to learn English.

Distance Learning Online Courses!

We offer Distance Learning online courses for beginning to advanced ESL and ABE students.

Courses include:

Burlington English—Choose courses in Everyday English, English in America, and Career Extensions for Beginning to Advanced level learners. Students can improve their pronunciation, as well as speaking and listening skills.

Apex Learning—English Foundations 1 and 2 courses support literacy development through intensive reading and writing skills instruction. Advanced ESL and ABE students work online on their own or in the lab.

Project Success—My English Lab features videos about life and work experiences with listening, writing, vocabulary and grammar practice at Beginning to Advanced levels.

Online students must meet with teacher two to four times per month, pledge to complete the course in the quarter, and take CASAS tests. Students can take a new online course each quarter. This program offers life skills instruction for developmentally disabled adults*. We teach skills that enable individuals to function independently and socially in our community. Our approach affirms the dignity of students and their right to independence, self esteem, and respect.

The materials, software, and instruction provided in this open-entry lab will help you prepare for the GED® test. New students are assessed and counseled at entry to develop a personalized plan that addresses their academic needs and goals. Regular attend-ance is critical to student success. Students must attend regularly and make progress or they will be in jeopardy of being dropped and having to re-enroll. Certified Phlebotomy(CPT) As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be trained to draw blood samples from patients in a clinical laboratory or public health setting. Over the course of the program, students will receive on-the-job training that includes drawing blood samples from patients, producing quality laboratory results, gaining the trust and confidence of patients and much more. The program includes 104 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on training with an off-site patient service center. Each student must provide 5-10 volunteers to complete the externship portion of the program. This program will prepare students to take the national Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam through the Nation-al Healthcareer Association (NHA). Program Fee: $2,995 ((includes CPR certification training for the Healthcare Provider, liability insurance, externship, name badge, national exam and certificate). Textbooks and scrubs sold separately. Prerequisites: 18 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) In this program, you will learn medical terminology, front and back office pro-cedures, standard patient processing, medical billing and customer service. Students will be trained to help physicians care for patients, take vital signs, perform basic lab tests and administer medications in a doctor’s office or clin-ic. The program includes 160 hours of classroom instruction and a 160-hour medical office externship. The program will prepare students to take the na-tional Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam through the National Healthcare Associate (NHA).

Course Cancellations

If there is an insufficient enrollment 1 business day before the class is scheduled to start, we reserve the right to cancel the course. You will be notified of any cancellations and your money will be refunded.

Uniform Complaint Policy

The District recognizes its responsibility to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations governing education programs and activities. Therefore, in accordance with state guidelines, the District has adopted “Uniform Complaint Procedures” which shall be followed when addressing complaints alleging unlawful discrimination, harassment, or intimidation, or failure to comply with state or federal law related to: Adult Basic Education Programs, Consolidated Categorical Programs, Career and Technical Education Programs, Child Care and Developmental Programs, Child Nutrition Programs, and Special Education Programs.

Parking

Fremont Adult and Continuing Education patrons are encouraged to park in adult school parking lots. Please respect residential parking spaces on public streets adjacent to our campus. Also, we ask you to be aware of the legal guidelines regarding on-street drop-off and pick-up, i.e. not stopping at any time on the roads in front of campus. Park at your own risk! We are not liable for any damages incurred to vehicles parked in the school parking lots.

available for 2019-20. Classes at several FUSD locations, including right here at Fremont Adult School and also at the new Spanish Immersion

school! Free for income-eligible families. Income limits were raised, so call for details (510) 659-2579 or come to room 250 in the district of-fice. If you don't qualify, we also have a fee-based program. Give your

The Native American Museum houses a wide variety of authentic cultural artifacts and displays stu-dent and professional art work. These items are arranged and ex-hibited according to the ten Native American cultural regions of North America. The museum is located within the Native American Program Center, Room 20 on the Adult School cam-pus. Schools and community groups are encouraged to contact us and schedule a field trip, as this is a fun way to learn about the rich heritage of Native America. Open to the public.
