THE SEASON OF LENT begins on Wednesday. (Ash Wednesday). For those preparing for Baptism or Reception into full communion with the Church at Easter, this is a more intense period of spiritual preparation. The rest of us are asked to accompany them in prayer and to take stock of our own lives in the light of the gospel. The traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving can help us turn back to God and towards our neighbour, and reminding us of what really matters in our lives. Do take home with you:

• A Walk with me booklet with a meditation for each day of Lent;

• A Leeds Lent Prayer Diary produced by Leeds Churches Together in Mission

Consider:

• Checking the times of Stations of the Cross (3 times each week), weekday Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Vespers, the Rosary and plan an extra visit to the Cathedral each week. The times of all services are on the facing page.

The Bishop will celebrate the 5.30pm Solemn Mass on Ash Wednesday (Vespers at 5.10pm will be said not sung). In addition, there’ll be an extra Mass at 10.00am.
