It is great news that we can gather together as a people of faith for

the celebration of Mass beginning

Monday May 18th. In order to accommodate

the number of individuals who attend Weekend Masses and meet social distancing

guidelines Mass will be celebrated in the gym. Weekday Masses will still be in Church as well as confessions on Saturday.

Eucharistic Adoration will begin on Tuesday May 19th.

There are certain guidelines that Archbishop Carlson has required for this to happen.

Anyone who is ill, symptomatic or has been exposed to someone else with the coronavirus

within 14 days cannot enter Church. We also ask everyone to check their temperature at home

before deciding to attend Mass. All pews are to be wiped down with disinfectants and that all surfaces used

frequently (restroom facilities, door handles, etc.) are sanitized before each service. (Need Volun-

teers to help with this) Everyone is required to wear a mask or other facial covering. Only exception is when seated in

pew and receiving Holy Communion. You must observe social distancing-staying at least six feet from people not in your household. Parents should determine when a child is old

enough to attend and abide by the safety guidelines.

Maintaining a single-file line is necessary for the distribution of Holy Communion, keeping in mind the six foot social distancing requirement. Archbishop Carlson has dispensed all of the faithful from the obligation of Sunday Mass for those who it is not possible currently to attend

Mass. (My suggestion for those who have concerns consider attending Morning Mass

during the week.) We will also be livestreaming 8 AM Mass on

the school Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Immaculate-Conception-School-Old-Monroe-MO-807428419327622/?ref=br_tf&epa=SEARCH_BOX

DEACON NEAL’S REFLECTION CORNER Congratulations to Fr. Dane Westhoff on his ordination to the priesthood. The Holy Spirit called him and he answered. Praise God!!! Today we celebrate the feast of the Ascension. As many of us remember, it used to be called Ascension Thursday, 40 days after Easter. But the Bishops changed it to Sunday to have more people celebrate the feast because people weren't showing up for the Holy Day of Obligation. As a child, I remember the importance of Holy Days. It made us different from other faiths. We were off school and living on a farm, we didn't work unless we were way behind in planting or had to bale hay. Kids today are not going to see that unless we take the time and make sure that they under-stand the importance and the history of each feast. We, as par-ents or grandparents or godparents or fellow parishioners need to accept this responsibility. We will be judged at the end, if we fulfilled our responsibility on earth or not. Ask yourself, "Am I doing all what God has called me to do?"

God Bless, Deacon Neal
