1Talent Connect 2013 Welcome

For those of you new to Talent Connect, I have three pieces of advice:

1. You’re going to be immersed in a tremendous amount of content over the next three days. Plan to walk away with five key lessons that you implement when you return to your office.

2. You are surrounded by an amazing group of talent acquisition professionals. Meet five new people and ask them about the most impactful strategy they’re implementing right now.

3. Remember to have a great time. You deserve one!

LinkedIn’s vision is to create economic opportunity for every professional in the world. You play a central role in that vision. Thank you for your support and attendance, and we hope Talent Connect helps you take your game to the next level.

Here’s to a fantastic conference!

Sincerely,

Daniel ShaperoVP Talent Solutions & InsightsLinkedIn

Erik WahlAuthor, Artist and Entrepreneur

Erik Wahl is an internationally recognized graffiti artist, author, and entrepreneur, and re-defines the term “keynote speaker.” Pulling from his history as both a businessman and an artist, he has grown to

become one of the most sought-after corporate speakers available today. Erik’s on-stage painting seamlessly becomes a visual metaphor to the core of his message, encouraging organizations toward profitability through innovations and superior levels of performance. His list of clients includes AT&T, Disney, London School of Business, Microsoft, FedEx, Exxon Mobil, Ernst & Young, and XPrize. Erik has even been featured as a TED presenter. The responses received have been nothing short of incredible, with standing ovations to prove it. Erik’s understanding of vision was originally born in the school of disappointment. After an eight-year career as a partner in a corporate firm, he became frustrated by the lack of innovative thought and corresponding profits he saw in business. He set out to challenge companies to change their way of thinking, while simultaneously pursuing his own individual passions. He rediscovered his love for art, and now plays in the business world by working through his art. In the past 10 years, he has shared his incredible message with the largest and most influential companies in the world, leaving behind his prized artwork as a reminder of his passion for breakthrough thinking. He’s the Warhol of Wall Street, the Renoir of ROI, the Picasso of Productivity, the Jobs of… well, having a Job. He is Erik Wahl: graffiti artist, author, entrepreneur and philanthropist.

The strongest focus of his work most recently has been seated firmly within the realm of interactive/social recruiting, candidate experience, and both national- and regional-based strategies.

LinkedIn Talent Sourcing: Building a Solid Foundation with the Boolean Black BeltLooking for that needle in the haystack? When you search LinkedIn, are you finding top talent, or simply those people who are easiest to find? Now that LinkedIn has grown to over 238M profiles, finding people has become easier, but finding the right people has actually become more challenging. As such, knowing how to effectively source talent on LinkedIn is now more important than ever. In addition to reviewing basic Boolean logic, Glen will expose you to the Hidden Talent Pools within LinkedIn and thoroughly explore the true foundation of LinkedIn sourcing effectiveness: information retrieval best practices, understanding the behavior of the people you’re looking for and that of your competitors, and developing the ability to ask better questions. Ideal as a first exposure to Glen Cathey’s LinkedIn Talent Mining concepts, this session will also provide valuable insights for LinkedIn users of all levels, including those who have attended Glen’s past Talent Connect presentations.
