Looking for a way to keep active and warm this winter?

The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) at

the University of Regina provides an

opportunity for people of all ages to

take part in a wide range of learning

opportunities for personal satisfaction. As

a learner at LLC you will become part of a

community of lifelong learners who enjoy

acquiring knowledge about new topics,

discussing issues of common concern

and sharing life-stories.

Evening courses are designed for those

who want to continue learning for the joy of it, but may be tied up with work, childcare

or other responsibilities during the day. You can learn a new language, how to manage

your money and how to prepare delicious Chinese food.

Daytime courses are designed primarily for people who may be semi-retired or of

retirement age who want to continue learning for the joy of it. Older learners come

together to participate in lectures and discussions to share their knowledge, ideas and

experience with others. They come together for fitness courses to maintain health,

language courses to prepare for upcoming travels or to keep their brains alert. LLC also

has computer and technology courses to teach you how to stay connected or make

more effective use of your iPhone or iPad.

Rediscover learning with the Lifelong Learning Centre. Whatever your interests or

educational background, if you are intellectually curious or want to learn some

practical skills, you will find LLC has something for you. Enjoy expanding your

knowledge with others in a friendly and stimulating environment – with no exams!

See page 58 for information on how to register for LLC courses and call today to

THE LETTERS OF PAUL (71076) NEW!

This class will focus on the letters of an

early follower of Jesus, known within the

Christian faith as “St. Paul.” His letters

represent our very earliest evidence for

theological and philosophical speculation

about Jesus, and are actually much more

creative, and more odd, than we normally

give them credit for. This class will explore

these letters, making particular reference

to 1) contextualizing them as artifacts of

contemporary ancient “clubs”; 2) Paul’s

treatment of gender; 3) Paul’s treatment

of politics.

Day: Tue, Jan 20-Mar 17

Time: 1:30-3:30pm

moderating weekly sessions which feature

writings based on topics suggested a

WHAT IS COHOUSING (71078)

Cohousing is a concept that came to

North America from Denmark where it

emerged over 40 years ago. It describes

neighborhoods that combine the

autonomy of private dwellings with the

advantages of shared resources and

community living. Some people call

cohousing neighborhoods a return to

the best of small-town communities.

Others say they are like the close-knit

neighborhood where they grew up,

while futurists call them an altogether

new response to social, economic and

environmental challenges. Each holds a

piece of truth. Dave Lareau, a member of

Regina’s first cohousing community will

answer the question “What is cohousing?”

Saskatchewan’s rich architectural heritage

as well as the architects who were

Flexible classes have been a great way for me to receive my education. Not being a big city girl, I have been able to access most of my required classes at a Regional College and through online, televised and blended courses right in my community. This has enabled me to stay close to friends and support systems and keep my living costs low. Being able to choose my own schedule has been essential for me as I strive to maintain a balance between pursuing my studies and being available to my children. Online courses have met that need for me as I have been able to do most of my course work in the evenings after my kids go to sleep.

The times that I have needed guidance, the staff at Parkland Regional College and later the staff at Flexible Learning have been wonderful. I loved the family-like atmosphere at the Regional College and have personally benefited from their smaller class sizes and individualized support. I highly recommend flexible classes for people with a demanding schedule and a busy family life.
