be the only dates this season—if you
unable to make these dates you will
need to do your proficiency at an-
other club.
PATROL UNIFORMS
Members to turn up ready for patrol
at/before their start times in Full
Uniform. To enable beach setup to
commence immediately and finish
on time. The correct Patrol Uniform
including Patrol Cap, as well as sun
safety (See the office if you do not
have a wide brimmed hat). This is
a requirement for a our patrolling agree-
ment and for the Bulk/Wilkes Shield. It is
an easy 10pt per person on inspections,
compared to 1pt for a incorrect answer.
We have not received an inspection for
October so there will most likely be a
double up this month so please double
check the beach/equipment setup, have
2 members with tubes on the wa-
ters edge, (plus a member in an ele-
vated position/tower), log books up to
date and do some revision to pass the
time.
- 4WD is to be only used for towing onand off the beach, and is to be kept off
the beach as much as possible. Please
select 2H wheel drive once you have left
the beach, including turning around in
the carpark, maintain enough tyre pres-
sure so they are not punctured by the
rims, and clean/wash the both
ATV/4WD/IRB inside/outside after every
patrol (they are our
most expensive equipment). Everyone
driving the ATV/4WD must be 18+ with a
non-Learners Licence & need to com-
plete the new updated 4WD course
(including those with the ATV Induction
We require your drivers licence details
for this course. You have been con-
tacted if we don’t have your details. (this
may also a good time to check your Blue
Card Status. This will also be compulsory
for driving club vehicles after the 31
December, 2011.
- Apart from these housekeeping issues
members are encouraged to up skill
themselves with awards, as this make
rostering and swaps easier as well as
making for more effective patrol teams,
so please check dates for up coming
courses as well as proficiencies. Also if
you have any friends, family, school/
uni/work colleges that my be interested
in being involved, they are more than
welcome. Even if it it is to do their Ra-
dio Operators, which can be put on
patrols pairs to maintain the watch in
the tower with their Sunday morning
coffee/tea together.
If there is anything else you need orwish to pass onto me, please feel free
to email me.
Thanks and see you on the beach.

ON SUNDAY MORNINGS…...
NO NIPPERS FOR U8—U10
SUNDAY 13th of November due
to a carnival.
Nippers has been having some
great days on the beach since
the last newsletter and I think
that is mainly due to the great
weather and conditions.
Early October saw Kawana
attend our first 2 carnivals with
Rainbow Beach Carnival and
U11-14 Teams Carnivals held at
Mets Caloundra. Both carnivals
saw the Kawana team with
some good results for a small
club and there is some real
talent amongst our nipper
group and I am sure will have
some of Nippers names up in
lights in the future.
October also saw us hold our
first points day which was a
success across all events. After
last years weather it was good
to actually get the event held
after so many false starts in the
previous season.
A couple of thanks need to go
out:
Firstly, to Tony Wise who made
our Nipper Notice board. It
looks great and appreciate the
hard work put in. I am sure all
that have seen it would agree.
It will be out every week with
upcoming events, nipper calen-dar and notices so please take
the time to read it. I want to
know who the artist is in the
Wise family.
To Luke Godwin from Team
Godwin Real Estate. Luke won
second prize in our recent Nip-
per Board raffle which was the
Pool Cleaner donated from
Steve Cluff. Luke has gener-
ously donated this back to the
Nippers to raffle in our upcom-
ing Xmas raffle. Big thanks to
Luke and Team Godwin for
their continual support.
To all our new officials who
started their course last week.
It is great to see all of you put
your hands up to help and in
some cases a few that help in
many areas with the club al-
ready.
Lastly, our Nipper parents who
have registered to gain their
Age Manager Accreditation—
Congratulations!
As always please feel free to
speak to myself or any commit-
tee members if you have any
questions.

Somebody said to me the other day that
there maybe some misconceptions or
misunderstandings about the role of the
Supporters Club and where it sits within
our Lifesaving community.
The Supporters Club was established near
on 30 years ago to raise funds to support
Lifesaving activities on Buddina Beach
and the stretch from Point Cartwright to
Currumundi, over the last 4 years from
the Annual reports the Supporters Club
has donated on average $250,000 to the
Surf Club each year. These funds were
then managed by the Management Com-
mittees of the Surf Club to manage andpay for all the activities of the Surf Club ,
both on the beach, the competition
arena , training , equipment etc. Last
year, however the Supporters Club had a
very detrimental trading year incurring
losses , however, funds were still donated
to the Surf Club. This year we saw the
Constitution changed and endorsed at a
Special General meeting. A new Com-
mittee has been formed to manage the
Supporters Club. Thanks to everyone
involved , Committee, Staff , Supporters
and Active members we have turned
the trading around to a small profitable
position for last 3 months. For the Sup-
porters Club to be in a position to con-
tinue to donate excess Profits to the
Surf Club after we cover all expenses
and allow for Repairs and Maintenance
and Capital Expenditure we need the
support of all the Community and espe-
cially our own Members and Families. If
each family took the opportunity to visitthe Club once a week for a drink or a
meal we would soon see our trading go
through the roof. Have a look at how
many families are on the Beach each
Sunday morning! Nipper parents—this
is your club!
I would like to thank everyone who has
helped over the last 6 months with improv-ing the Club, the gardens have been
cleaned up and maintained, the Club has
been cleaned and painted, the memora-
bilia has been rearranged, we have a new
chef, new furniture is being ordered and
hopefully will be in place by Xmas.
All I ask is that everyone thinks about visit-
ing the Club, think about holding your fam-
ily festivities, birthdays, work parties etc
at the Club. We currently have 3 weddings
booked prior to Xmas.
Come down for the raffles Friday
night. Any how please give this some
thought and if there are any questions orconcerns about the Supporters Club and its
role please feel free to ring me on
