What is a Purificator ?

A linen or Hemp cloth, anywhere from twelve to eighteen inches long and nine to

ten inches wide. A small cross is frequently embroidered in the center. The Purificator

is used for various purposes during the celebration of the Eucharist. The Priest

may use it as a napkin when consuming the consecrated bread and wine, the Body and Blood of Christ. When the laity share in the cup the purificator may be used to wipe the rim of the chalice or cup after

each person consumes. Hence, the purificator serves a practical purpose at

the Lord’s Table.

A Note from the Administrator...

Paz, Todo Bueno!

Dear Friends, The Transition Team and I thank you for the parish surveys returned. They were thoughtful, uniformly hopeful and positive, and full of suggestions and ob-servations. We now turn to our second phase of information gathering --- a St. Margaret Mary parish open hall meeting this Wednesday (February 25) at 7 pm in our parish hall. At that we will:

1) Celebrate the 2 or 3 things you identified as our parish’s greatest strengths.

2) Have opportunity to expand on the 2 or 3 areas you identified as our parish’s biggest areas of needed growth.

3) Have an open session for miscellaneous very comment, and abundant newsprint (blank pa-per) where you can write anything else you want the transition committee to consider.

In the near future the results of the surveys and the open parish meeting will be summarized and pub-lished in a report to be given to the diocese and … more importantly … to the parish Pastoral Council and me to assist us in masking informed decisions … leading to a pastoral plan that will make our parish THRIVE! You are all very warmly invited. Peace, All Good!

have to prepare thoroughly, with clear intentions and an austere formation." (Rome, Italy, October 13, 1979)
