Dear ReadersAugust in Spain always promises one thing.. It's the hottest monthof the year but really can it actually feel any hotter than its been dur-ing the last month with 3 heat waves across Spain, it has been HotHot Hot!! There really isn't much more to say because unless you‘re sitting in an air conditioned room or right next to a powerful fanit's been really unbearable. Even my swimming pool is like a mug of warm coffee, I did visit thebeach last weekend and the sea temperature was cooler so it's nota suprise why the beaches are so popular. The sun, shade, the seabreeze and the biggest swimming pool in the world, right in front ofyou, it can't get better than that oh I forgot a cool box full of ice andcans of beer that always helps!

For the children the water parks are the ideal places to have fun butalso to keep cool, Aqualandia is great for the teenagers with thrillingrides, wave machine and rapids but for families and younger chil-dren Aqua Natura is a perfect setting with sun shaded areas, poolsfor baby's and infants as well as some great family fun with the latestfamily ride the ‘Aqua Snake’ where three people share the inflatableand ride down the slide together.

Last week the Heat FM roadshow event was at the Guinness Bar inLevante Beach Benidorm, a big thank you to everyone who camealong and joined in the fun in in support of the EMAUS children'scharity organisation and "EURO A MONTH.com".We have more summer fun to come with the next roadshow eventsin Altea, Albir and Javea during August and September.

Why don't you tune in today and turn up the "HEAT" and listen to themost popular "Hit Music Station" in the Costa Blanca "Heat FM Spain" recentlyvoted the most listened to local radio and continues to increase itspopularity across the North Costa Blanca. 90.3 Benidorm to Altea or106.8 in Calpe to Javea and remember you can also listen live viathe website, phone App or even via Europa Network TV so you canliterally listen anywhere.

From Front page...Two days after the Order of theGeneralitat to slow line 9 TRAMDenia-Benidorm, things seem to begetting worse with problems andscenes that should not happen in the21st century. Delays continued fromTuesday where reports showeddelayed up to 30 minutes howeveron the second day delays werereported early on starting at around15 minutes extending throughout theday reaching over 40 minutes.

Many people rely on the tram duringthe summer season to travel aroundbut also many still rely on this modeof transportation to get to and fromwork, and with these delays it is total-ly unacceptable.

Schedules at the stations have notbeen changed despite the speedlimit introduction, giving passengersno clue of when to expect the train orarrive at their destinations.

Due to the delays many people whoswitch to line 1 are then left in theextreme heat, waiting up to 20 min-utes to catch the next tram.

The speed restrictions have been putin place for safety reasons as itseems many parts of the line have

not had sufficient maintenance andthat after studies in recent years todecrease the risk of accidents, suchas the derailment in Benidorm in2008 these speed restrictions wereneeded to be applied, with theRailway Union calling the effects ofthe new restrictions “torture” to resi-dents, holidaymakers and workers

Spanish AirportOperator AENASmashes Profits

Spain's AENA, the world's biggest airportoperator by passenger numbers, saidWednesday its net profit jumped by 79.9percent in the first half of the year, boost-ed mainly by one-off tax deductions.

The company, which was partially listedon the stock market earlier this year, saidhigher air traffic and consolidation ofBritain's Luton airport also helped earn-ings.

Back in October 2014 AENA exercised itsoption to purchase an additional 11 per-cent of Luton airport, London's fourthlargest, bringing its stake up to 51 per-cent.

The company said the consolidation ofLuton boosted its core profit by €27.5 mil-lion during the first half of the year.

It also received extraordinary tax credits inincome tax amounting to €57.4 millionduring the period.

Earlier this month the Minister for PublicWorks, Ana Pastor, announced that LutonAirport (London) is now the fifth busiestairport in terms of traffic within the AENAnetwork, having recorded growth of closeto 15% in the first half of 2015, with 5.7million passengers.

The Minister also pointed out that LutonAirport has "considerable capacity forgrowth" and an infrastructure which is"very significant for Spanish interests, as

Spain is the world leader in the airportsector, and hence we want to furtherdevelop this airport".

AENA handled 93 million passengers dur-ing the first semester, a 5.2 percentincrease over the same period last year. The company runs 46 airports and twoheliports in Spain, and has stakes inanother 15 airports in three other nations -Britain, Colombia and Mexico.

Luton Airport HatchesPlan For High Speed

London Rail LinkPlans for a fast transit link is reported-ly being hatched by Luton airport togive access to the centre of Londonwithin 20 minutes.

Passengers currently take a 20-minutedirect train to Luton airport Parkway sta-tion but the total journey time to the air-port can be more than doubled by havingto change, wait and travel the last mile bybus. This puts off many travellers despiteLuton’s breadth of short-haul servicesoffered by easyJet, Wizz Air and Ryanair.

Nick Barton, the former boss of Stanstedwho has been Luton’s chief executivesince last winter, is working up plans toget the airport properly connected to therail network

The airport started a £100 million projectthat would increase its passenger capaci-ty by 50% to 18 million.

It is extremely popular, attracting morethan 50,000 people for this excitingshow of fireworks and music next tothe Mediterranean Sea. The fireworksare set off from floating platforms andare accompanied by a live orchestra.

They are absolutely beautiful towatch as their colours andshapes reflect off the water. Thefireworks display by the Castellde l'olla (in front of Villa GadeaHotel in Altea) has been held forsixteen years now and hasacquired fame among residentsand visitors to the region ofValencia.

Spectators arrive early withdeckchairs and cool boxes filled withfood and drink for the evening and setup their gear on the pebbled beachready for the spectacular 30-40minute firework display.

There is a special train being run fromDenia to Altea for the evening. Itleaves from Dénia at 9.28pm (arrivesat Altea at 10.30pm). After the fire-works it leaves from Altea at 1.17amand arrives in Dénia at 2.18am.

One of the historical problems ofAltea has always been the lack ofparking, which affects businessowners greatly.

Back in March the town hall founda solution, the construction of acar park over 13,000 squaremeters which would help alleviatethe issue.

The car park is now finished andbusiness owners in the town aredesperate in making sure visitorsare aware that there is morespaces are available.

You can find the new car parkwhich has 500 free car parkingspaces on Cami L'Algar, at theback of Altea, next to petrol sta-tion and Caixa Rural bank, just200 meters, two minutes from thecentre of Altea.

The Good BurgerServes a Great Burger!

If you’re enjoying a day onBenidorms Levante beachthen you can’t miss theopportunity to try one of thebest fast food burgers Ihave ever tasted at TGB-The Good Burger. It is noexaggeration, I am alwaysa little disappointed when itcomes to fast food and with

so much choice here in Spain with fantastic Menu delDias I tend to avoid the likes of Burger King and MacDonalds which are always overpriced for what you get,and what you get you can barely call a burger.

Then there’s TGB, wowseriously, new toBenidorm this is amodernised fast foodfranchise and they aredoing everything right, thedecor is stunning with con-temporary colours and mod-ern lighting, seating is available inside and out on theiropen terrace, which by the way despite being open has aload of new electric ceiling fans, perfect for when youhave just come off the beach and need a breeze. What ienjoyed most because I’m a big kid is once you placeyour order you get what looks like a coaster, but it’s to letyou know when your food is ready so you don’t have tostand up waiting and helpsthem keep the queue mov-ing, when your foods readythe device sounds the alarmand the flashes, how cool isthat!

TGB make their own exclu-sive bread with TGB’s veryown flour. The result is a suc-culent, tasty roll with a sweet touch, the classic TGB

Burger you can getwith a decent sizebeer for 3.50 eurosand you seriouslywon’t be disap-pointed, the burg-ers are 100% beefand you can tasteit, once you havetried one of theseburgers you willnot think to go back to a different fast food burger joint. To accompany the burger they have their own burgersauce, along with fresh crisp lettuce and fresh tomato.

They have a fantastic selection on their menu with aselection of different burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, appetizers salads and desserts, I wish I couldhave tried it all but I won’t be needing an excuse to goback! As an extra incentive they have a 2 for 1 Burgeroffer every Thursday, don’t miss it!

Found in a quiet little road in the old town, shandor is in a beautiful setting with bespoke tables and chairslaid out in the street. The food is clearly prepared with carefulthought and attention, the menu offering a lovely range of dishes, including tapas, and even explains how the restaurant got itsname, giving it a real personal touch. The salmon tartare is thebest I've ever tasted. But all the food is delicious. The service isgreat, our waitress even remembered us from 2 years ago! If in Albir, make sure you try this top classrestaurant, you won't be disappointed. The desserts are homemade which makes a real difference to other Indian Restaurants- I had Banofee Pie which was also excellent.

“Always a great visit!”Reviewed 10 July 2015Simple put, great service, great food, look after families and cou-ples, if you like Indian food go here. Keep up the good work andlook forward to seeing you next year!

“Pleasent evening”Reviewed 10 July 2015Recently visited Sinitas whilst over in Albir having walked past formany years we decided to visit this time. We booked a a fewdays earlier as we wanted to reserve seating outside for the love-ly decked area. The service was very slow, however it was busy, we had a smallbaby and the manager couldn't of done any more for our son, they brought him ice cream and toys to play with whilst we ateour meal. The food was great, good portion sizes, we had the sizzling tan-doori chicken and garlic naan, that we would highly recommend. The soft drinks (sprite) come in 200ml bottles this was a bitannoying as it we found we had to order many just feel we werehydrated, you get much more in a can (330ml) and as the food ison the more expensive it would be nice to keep the drinks billdown. However I would just like to again thank the manager for hisgreat customer service. He made our family feel very well lookedafter. We will be back.

The Latest BUZZ from the Motoring World

Volkswagen Touran ReviewThe five-seater Touran has the biggestluggage compartment (1,040 litres) in itsclass (when loaded roof-high up to 2ndseat row). Despite significant gain in over-all length, weight has been reduced by62kg and drag coefficient to 0,296 andthis results in a drop in fuel consumptionof up to 19%.

4,527mm long x 1,814mm wide x1,628mm high on 2,791mm wheelbase.110PS 1.2TSI, 50PS 1.4TSIs, 180PS 1.8TSI, 110PS 1.6TDI, 150PS 2.0TDI,190PS 2.0TDI engines.

The most fuel-efficient diesel model, the110 PS Touran 1.6 TDI with 7-speed DSG,achieved 68.9mpg in the ECDC lab tests.

The most economical petrol model is theTouran 1.4 TSI, which delivers 150PSwith an ECDC combined avarage of52.3mpg.

All models feature Stop/Start and batteryregeneration (brake energy recuperation)systems as standard.

The second row seats are now muchlighter that the previous Tourans and canbe folded down to merge flat with the lug-gage compartment floor. Even with fivepeople on board, the 2015 Touran has1,040 litres of luggage space when

loaded up to roof height. With two peopleabourt luggage volume is 1,857 litresloaded to the roof.

There is a total of up to 47 storage com-partments distributed throughout the inte-rior of the 2015 Touran; these include alarge removable container in the JumboBox under the front centre armrest andthe luggage compartment light which caneasily be snapped out for use as a torch. All aspects of the air-conditioning systemhave also been carefully thought-through.

The Touran's dash panel has beenredesigned with a more driver-orientedlayout. The upper area of the panel ismade of a slush-moulded soft-touchmaterial and contains a closable storagecompartment. The chrome-trimmed airvents (above the centre console) and theswitch for the hazard warning lights occu-py a central position.

The longer wheelbase of the new Touranalso benefits passengers in the frequentlyused second seat row, who will appreciatethe added 40 mm of play available when

adjusting the three individual seats. Thesecond row seats can be adjusted length-wise with a total travel of 200 mm. Thebackrest inclination can also be adjusted, with a choice of three positions. If theseats in the second row are being used, aseat belt indicator lets the driver knowwhether the passengers have fastenedtheir seat belts.

For the first time in the Touran there areheated rear seats and also three-zoneautomatic air conditioner in the rear (PureAir Climatronic as an option). Another newfeature is the armrest built into the centreseat, for the use of passengers in theouter seats. There is the option of sunprotection in the form of roller blinds inte-grated in the doors - an important detailwhen young children are aboard.Meanwhile, the newly designed fold-flatseats improve seating ergonomics andadd 6 mm to the headroom.

The third seat row offers another twoseats. The legroom here has also beenimproved (by an extra 54 mm). Entry andexit have also been optimised, with thesecond seat row being equipped with aneasy entry function allowing the seats toslide forward. There is also more head-room (an extra 13 mm)

WHY DOGS EAT GRASS —AND HOW TO PREVENT IT!

Your dog begs to be let outside, immediately downsseveral mouthfuls of grass… and then promptly vom-its it all up. Or maybe your dog is more of connois-seur, hunting for just the right blade to nosh on, withno side effects afterwards.

It’s a common behavior that baffles many dog owners. Infact, one survey found that grass is the most commonlyeaten plant by dogs. But why do they do it?

Here’s the truth: we’re not 100% sure. It’s likely there’s notone simple answer. Different dogs may eat grass for dif-ferent reasons. But understanding why your dog does canhelp you address the behavior.

It’s tastyYour dog eats every last morsel he can find under yourdinner table after a meal, so why stop there? As naturalscavengers, canines are programmed to search for nutri-tion anywhere they can find it. It’s possible that your dog

finds the flavor or texture of grass yummy. Or it could befilling a nutritional need that his normal food isn’t, espe-

cially fiber.

Prevention:Some people find that the behavior stops after theyswitch to a high-fiber dog food. If you think this might bethe case for your pup, consult with your veterinarianbefore making any changes to your dog’s diet.

He’s boredIn some cases, eating grass is just something to do topass the time. He’s got the backyard to himself, but not

much to do there. Are you providing regular exercise andmental challenges for your pup? Do you notice your dogeating more grass during times when you aren’t walkingor playing with them as often?

Prevention:Sometimes the solution can be as simple as providing achew toy as an alternative or dedicating yourself to pro-viding a consistent exercise routine.

Stomach distressSome experts believe that grass is a form of self-medica-tion. When your dog has tummy troubles, he turns tograss for relief. This is more likely if the behavior startssuddenly or if your dog is very anxious about needing toeat the grass, often extending his neck and making swal-lowing motions, and then vomiting afterwards. But moststudies have found that this is actually quite rare — lessthan 25% of dogs vomit after eating grass and only 10%showed signs of illness beforehand.

Prevention:In some cases, the stomach distress can be a sign ofsomething more serious, like gastric reflux or inflammato-ry bowel disease, so it’s worth calling your veterinarian foradvice.

Still not sure?Relax. Many veterinarians consider grass eating a normaldog behavior. While dogs don’t gain anything of real nutri-tional value from grass, it also may not hurt them — aslong as there are no dangerous fertilizers, pesticides, orherbicides used on the grass itself.

You can help protect your grass eater by using only non-toxic products on your own lawn. When you’re out in pub-lic areas, keep an eye out for signs warning that chemi-cals have been used on the grass. You can also providea safe alternative by growing a grass or herb gardenspecifically for him to snack on.

England To Face Scotland In World Cup Qualifiers

England and Scotland will have twomouthwatering clashes in the qualify-ing competition for the 2018 WorldCup after the home nations weredrawn in the same group for first timein all the years of their fierce rivalry.

The two countries will battle it out forsupremacy in Group F along withSlovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania andMalta. The winners will qualify auto-matically for the finals in Russia, withthe runners-up having to take part ina play-off.

It is the first time England andScotland have been drawn togetherto play a World Cup match, althoughthe home nations championship didact as a qualifying competition for the1950 and 1954 World Cups.

England and Scotland first playedeach other 143 years ago -- the firstever international -- and their last

competitive meeting was in aplay-off for Euro 2000, whereEngland went through 2-1 onaggregate. England also tri-umphed in two friendly meetingslast year and in 2013.

England manager Roy Hodgson'scurrent contract expires after theEuro 2016 finals next July and the67-year-old said he would love tobe given the chance to coach the

national side in the World Cup quali-fying campaign.

Hodgson, speaking in St Petersburgafter the draw, said: "It's not some-thing I want to give up lightly but ifthe FA want me to stay on I would bedelighted to do so. The England-Scotland fixture, that is going to cap-ture the imagination. England vScotland fixtures go back a long, long way in history and there hasbeen many a fierce encounter alongthe way."

Scotland manager Gordon Strachanwatched the draw at Hampden Parkand said: "There must have beensome sort of intervention there, because the sun came out andEngland got pulled out of the pot atthe same time and the place erupted.

"I imagine that is the way everyone inScotland felt.

"From the coaches' point of view it isgood that there will be these two bigfixtures, but I think first and foremostit is good for the fans of bothnations."

Wales were drawn in Group D withthe Republic of Ireland, plus Austria,Serbia, Moldova and Georgia.

Northern Ireland will have to faceworld champions Germany in GroupC along with Czech Republic,Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino.

The Portuguese sayspeople might be "sur-prised" by how muchArsenal have spent in thelast few seasons, but thefigures show that Chelseahave spent significantlymore

Jose Mourinho may need tofind himself a new calcula-tor, with the Chelsea man-ager's suggestion thatArsenal have spent enoughto win the title dwarfed bythe figures the Portuguesehas spent himself.

“If you add up the amountsthe clubs have spent in thelast three or four years I

think maybe you will find asurprise," he told reporters, disputing Arsene Wenger'sclaim that it had been"impossible" for theGunners to win the titlebefore now.

“Get a calculator. That isone of the easiest things todo. It leaves no space forspeculation. If you want tobe honest, objective andpragmatic it is the easiestjob for a manager or a jour-nalist to do.

“They have bought a fan-tastic goalkeeper and that isa position which is veryimportant in a team. If you

put [Mesut] Ozil plus[Alexis] Sanchez, plus[Calum] Chambers, plus[Mathieu] Debuchy you willmaybe find a surprise.”

But Arsenal's spending isnot quite as dramatic asMourinho has made out, with the Gunners spending£148.1 million since 'theSpecial One' returned to thePremier League in 2013.

Over the same period, theBlues have spent £236.7m -a whopping 59.8 per centmore - on players such asDiego Costa, Filipe Luis,Nemanja Matic and CescFabregas.
