Is IT speakIng To parenTs?

No, the parents at Victoria Park are great and really care about their children. Actu-ally, the worst thing is when children come to me and they’ve done something wrong, something they would never usually do, and they’re really upset about it. You know for example we might get somebody who has sworn — and they would never usu-ally do it, ever — but they’ve done it and they start crying because they know it’s not usually them. That’s kind of a sad thing, or something that’s happened outside of school and they come in and they’re really upset about it. I hate seeing chil-dren sad and upset. That’s the worst thing.

The besT ThIng?

You know when you all come back through the door from trips, or from swimming, or when you have 50 Vici activities. You come back and go, “Mrs. Keating it was brilliant!”, and to see the smiles on the pupils’ faces. Some of the pupils will come and tell me all the things you’ve achieved and you’re reall proud of what has been achieved, that’s got to be the best thing.

WhaT WIll you be doIng In The

summer holIdays?

Hmm… having a lie-in. Getting up about half nine instead of half five, having a four hour lie-in. I’ve got a son who’s at home from university, so I will prob-ably do some things with him. Go out for lunch, or for dinner with my fam-ily. Go and see my nieces and neph-ews, take them on trips. I think we’ll take them to Drayton Manor, and then I’ll be going on holiday as well for a while. The main thing is having some lie-ins and watching telly in the morning. And hav-ing a breakfast, bacon, egg and sausage! There’s never enough time in the week.
