Introduction Vocational training are studies directed to increase the knowledge and abilities of future workers throughout their life.

Which requirements do I need to be admited in vocational training studies?

To be at least 16 years old

To have the title of compulsary education

To have vocational training access to first level

To pass the guidance university or preuniversity course

What can I do if I don’t have all the requirements?

In the event that you do not possess any of the requirements of direct access to vocational training, the candidates will make an entrance test to be agreed by the different education authorities of the Autonomous Communities. The result of this exam will be valid throughout the national territory .

You have to be at least 17 years old to sit the access test.

You have to be at least 19 years old to sit the test, or

Or to be 18 years old and to have the vocational training first level title in the same field that you want to do.

LEVEL 1This level consists of two academic years.

The first one consists of 60 % of theory and 40 % of practices. Weekly, the classes would be like this:

• 9 hours of theory.• From 8 to 10 hours of practice.• 3 hours of labour orientation.

*In some vocational training courses, students have to learn languages (German and English)

The second year is constructed in the following way:• 6 hours of theory.• 21 hours of practices.• 3 hours of companies and enterprising initiative.

Also it’s 340 practical hours in companies.

LEVEL 2In the level 2, they give more attention to the practices, turning the percentage into 75 % of practices and 25 % of theory, but in the first course of level 2 there is more theory. Also it consists of two years; the first year is structured of the following way:• 8 hours of practices.• 3 hours of vocational training.• 17 hours of theory.

*In some vocational training courses students have to learn languages (German and English)

The second level 2 course is structured in this way:• 18 hours of practices.• 3 hours of companies and enterprising initiative.• 9 hours of theory.

Qualifications in the Autonomous Communities (Spanish Regions)

In all Autonomous Communities there are 26 “families”, but the levels in which they are

divided aren’t the same in all of them.

•To study vocational training in Catalonia, you must know Catalan.

Vocational training demands

The 20.53% of the university job offers don't require a bachelor's vocational training.

The most demanded position is Maintenance Technician.

Profiles such as Dependent, Technical and Commercial Support have had demand increase over the previous year.

Most of them are for vocational training offers that do not require previous experience.

In general, more than half of new graduates find work in less than three months. Indeed, according to the data, 53% of graduates with an intermediate training course get a job in this space of time. Also in the case of higher level programs, the percentage is even higher, to the point situated at 57%.

Students’ Opinions

71% of students know the possibility of studying this training programs from a distance, while 56% of adults without qualifications believe that the vocational training is the best option to improve their careers.
