Clementine was Winston’s emotional rockand his most trusted confidante; not only wasshe involved in some of the most crucialdecisions of war, but she exerted an influenceover her husband and the Government thatwould appear scandalous to modern eyes.Sonia Purnell explores the peculiar dynamicsof this fascinating but often ignoredpartnership as she presents the inspiringstory of one of the most important women inmodern history.

This remarkable two-person exhibitionfeatures photographs by Tobias Hofsäss andsculptures by Thomas Raschke. Each ofHofsäss’ ghostly, large format, negativephotographs is placed with one of Raschke’sintricate, life-size, wire armatures – the pair ofartworks in dialogue with each other.
The artists are both German and live inSweden, and bring humour and irony to thedifferences between Europe’s nationalcultures. What emerges when one culturetries (or tries not to) integrate itself withanother? With a nod to the clean lines andgood designs we associate with ‘swedishness’and IKEA, this surprising duo offer fresh, alternative perspectives for a UK audience.
Great IDEA is produced in collaboration withStadt Galerie Backnang, Germany.

Steffi Klenz Plotting Spaces3 April – 17 MayPhotographer Steffi Klenz is preoccupied withthe built environment, exploring the notion ofplace and space in her work. Although herwork presents environments and buildings it isnot architectural photography. Klenz’ workhas been described as ‘post photographic’because she considers whether meaning isinfluenced by what lies outside the pictureframe. She also considers whether repetitionunderpins or obscures meaning and thecontext, and if the location in which an imageis stored or experienced changes what itcommunicates.
Steffi Klenz is a Reader in Photography atUCA Rochester. Plotting Spaces is supportedby UCA and Arts Council England.

George EkstsDevelopment Heaven20 March – 9 MayGeorge Eksts uses video, sound photography, drawing and sculpture to explore ideas ofprogress, completion, time and the temporary. His ongoing series of 'Endless Videos' areexplorations challenging the linear historicalstructure of traditional filmmaking. Bereft ofnarrative and taking repetition to extremes, they question human and technologicaladvancement and notions of completion andpermanence. Eksts’ work with its emphasis onrepetition, deconstruction and the incompleteis an inversion of the term ‘Development Hell’used when film production becomes mired inendless edits and rewrites, hence the title‘Development Heaven’. The exhibition includesa wall drawing, which will be deconstructedand become less complete as the showprogresses, a new sound installation, a varietyof sculptural video pieces and large formatdigital prints. George Eksts is represented byTintype, London.
