    Download this Admission Brochure and read the requirements

    Application Account1. Create your Application Account. This one account is for providing complete information required

    for admission.

    2. Your E-Mail ID and Password provided by you will be your login details and will remain the samefor accessing Online Application until admissions for the academic year are over.

    8. Provide your Full Name when asked for digital signature and press 'Confirm Signature' button,followed by SAVE & SUBMIT button.

    9. Take a printout of the completed application; paste a recent passport size photo of the candidateat the space provided. Candidate and Parent should sign at appropriate places. Do not overwritein the online filled application.

    10. Signout after completing form filling and taking printout of filled application.

    11. The Third page of the printed application contains TNAU-SBI POWER JYOTI challan form

    12. Application fee of Rs. 625 (Rs. 325 for SC/SCA/ST including Bank charge of Rs. 25) should be tobe paid to TNAU-POWER JYOTI ACCOUNT at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) byshowing the printed challan copy at the bank counter.

    13. Enclose the TNAU copy of the SBI TNAU-Power Jyoti account Payment slip along with the filled-in online application.

    14. Enter the Journal Numberprovided by SBI in the First Page of the printed application.

    15. Attach Photo copy of +2 HSC / CBSE / equivalent examination board issued mark sheet(s)

    I.INTRODUCTION

    TamilNaduAgriculturalUniversity(TNAU)ratedasTHEbestAgriculturalUniversityin

    India by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi is an institute of excellence for

    highereducationinAgriculturalandalliedsubjects.

    The TNAU had begun as an Agricultural School at Saidapet in Chennai in 1876 and

    proliferatedasaCollegeinCoimbatore,during1906.In1920,thecollegewasaffiliatedtothe

    University of Madras with the introduction of a three-year degree program. Till 1946, the

    AgriculturalCollegeandResearchInstitute,Coimbatorewastheonlyinstituteforagricultural

    education for thewholeofSouth India. In1958, itwasrecognizedasa PostgraduateCentre

    offering Masters and Doctoral degrees. The Agricultural College and Research Institute,

    Maduraiwas establishedin1965. ThesetwocollegesformedthenucleusoftheTamilNadu

    AgriculturalUniversity,whenitwasestablishedin1971offeringfouryearB.Sc.(Agri.)degree

    program.

    Intheyear1972,thedegreeprogramsB.Sc.(Horticulture)andB.E.(Agriculture)were

    started. Infurtherance, in1979,the facultyofHorticulturewas established. Tonurture the

    homegrowninnovations,in1980,B.Sc.(HomeScience)wasstartedatMaduraicampus.The

    third Agricultural College was started at Killikulam in 1984 and the fourth at Navalur

    Kuttappattu,Tiruchirappalliin1989.B.Sc.(Forestry)programwasstartedduring1985.

    B.Sc. (Horticulture)andB.Tech.(AgriculturalEngineering)degreeprogramsarebeing

    offered at Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam and Agricultural

    EngineeringCollegeandResearchInstitute,Kumulur,respectively.AnewHorticulturalCollegeand Research Institute for Women at Navalur Kuttappattu, Tiruchirappalli, offering B. Sc.

    (Horticulture) was established during 2011. The Forest College and Research Institute at

    MettupalayamisofferingB.Sc.(Forestry)program.AuniqueprogrammeB.Sc.(Sericulture)

    was started during 2011 and isbeingoffered atAgricultural College and Research Institute,

    Coimbatore.

    In the backdrop of changing agricultural situation and developments in science and

    technology, TNAU introduced unique technology programs viz., B. Tech. (Food Process

    Engineering)during1998-1999,B.Tech.(Biotechnology)andB.Tech.(Horticulture)during2002-

    2003, B. Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering) during 2004-2005 and B. Tech.(Bioinformatics)during2006-2007.Owingtothedevelopmentsinagriculturalandinformation

    sciences and to capitalize on these potentialities, two courses, viz., B. S. (Agribusiness

    Management) andB. Tech. (Agricultural Information Technology) were started during 2007-

    2008.

    g.Physicalfitness

    Acertificate regardingthe physical standardsprescribedshall be obtained from theMedical

    OfficerofTamilNaduAgriculturalUniversity,Coimbatoreatthetimeofadmission.

    h. A studentof TamilNadu Agricultural Universitywho discontinues a course in the undergraduate

    programisnoteligibleforadmissionagaintoanyundergraduateprogramofthisUniversity.

    The reservation categories are mutually exclusive and a candidate can opt for only one

    reservation category though the candidate may be eligible under more than one category. The

    reservationwillbefollowedaspertheordersoftheGovernmentofTamilNaduinvogueatthetimeof

    B.SpecialReservations

    Certain number of seats is also reserved for the following categories, as prescribed by the

    GovernmentofTamilNaduG.O.Ms.No.167dt.25.4.2008.Aseparatecertificatewithnecessarydetails

    issuedby thecompetent authority concernedhastobeattached alongwith applicationforclaiming

    eachofthesereservations.

    Since the special reservation applications require processing by separate committees,

    candidatesareinstructedtoencloseseparatespecialreservationformalongwiththemainapplication.

    They should also enclose a DD for Rs. 100/- for each special reservation along with appropriate

    certificates. If appropriatecertificates or supporting documents for special reservationclaim arenot

    enclosedwiththeSpecialReservationForm,theirclaimundersuchcategorieswillnotbeconsidered.

    DifferenlyAbled(attachseparatespecialreservationapplicationandproof)-(AppendixV)

    ThreepercentoftheseatsintheB.Sc.(Agriculture)degreeprogramarereservedfordifferently

    abledcandidates.(1%-ENT;1%-Orthoand1%Visuallyimpaired).Theapplicantshouldfulfillall

    qualifyingrequirementsandmaximumagelimitisrelaxbleto26years.CandidatesseekingadmissionagainstthisreservationsetapartfororthopaedicallyDifferently

    AbledPersons/Hearingimpaired/VisuallyImpairedshouldproducethecertificatefromtheMedical

    Board of theDistrict concerned certifying thenatureandextentof disability inpercentageandwith

    regardtohis/hersuitability foradmission toProfessionalColleges specificallymentioned.Certificates

    obtainedfromanindividualDoctorwillnotbeconsidered.Further,aseparateTNAUMedicalTeamwill

    examine the candidates with reference to their certificates before counselling. Candidates have to

    Ex-servicemen(attachseparatespecialreservationapplicationandproof)-(AppendixIII)

    SixseatsinB.Sc.(Ag.)and oneseateach inB. Sc. (Horti.) and B. Tech.(Agrl.Engg.)degree

    programs are reserved for the son / daughter of Ex-servicemen. The applicant should possess all

    qualifyingrequirementsandshouldattachtheproofofevidenceissuedbycompetentauthorityalong

    withtheprintedapplication.Candidatesclaimingadmissionagainstthereservationofseatsunderthiscategory,shouldenclosethecertificateintheformat(CertificateNoTNAU/2013-2appended)givenin

    thebrochurefromanofficeroftheDepartmentofEx-servicemensWelfareofTamilnadunotbelowthe

    rankofAssistantDirectorofEx-servicemensWelfareofthedistrictinwhichthedependentisanative.

    Candidates called for special counselling should produce Ex-serviceman ID cards of their parents.

    Candidateshavetoattachspecialapplicationforthispurpose(AppendixIII)andencloseDDforRs.100/.

    FreedomFighter(attachseparatespecialreservationapplicationandproof)-(AppendixIV)

    OneSeatisreservedinB.Sc.(Ag.)forthedescendentsoffreedomfighters.Theapplicantshould

    fulfill all qualifying requirements. Thenecessary certificate issued by theTahsildarof the respective

    Taluk has to be attached(Certificate No TNAU/2013-3) along with the special application for this

    purpose(AppendixIV)enclosingDDforRs.100/.

    EminentSportsPerson(attachseparatespecialreservationapplicationandproof)-(AppendixVI)

    Fourseats inB. Sc. (Ag.) and one seat inB. Sc. (Hort.) are reserved under sportsquotafor

    eminentsportspersons.(Lr.No.20658/AU/2001-1dt.12.6.2001oftheDeputySecretarytoGovernment,

    Application is common for all the degree programs and candidates can choose the program

    Candidates will be selected on the basisMERIT BASED ON of the marks in their qualifying

    examinationandrankedaspertheproceduregiveninsectionofII(i).Singlewindowcounselingsystem

    isbeingfollowedforalldegreeprogramsandcampusallotment. Separatecounselingwillbeheldfor

    academicandvocationalstreamcandidates.

    Candidatesarecalledforcounselingintheorderofmerit.Basedonthemeritandcommunal

    SPECIAL RESERVATION FOR EMINENT SPORTS PERSONSSelection Procedure

    Four seats in B. Sc. (Ag.) and one seat in B. Sc. (Hort.) are reserved under sports quota foreminent sports persons. (Lr.No.20658/AU/2001-1 dt.12.6.2001 of the Deputy Secretary to Government,

    Agriculture (AU), Department Government of Tamil Nadu). The applicant should fulfill all qualifyingrequirements and attach the proof of evidence along with the application and with copies of the certificateissued by the Sport Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. Certificates obtained at National / State /District / Division level alone will be considered on the order of merit and hence copies of allrelevant certificates should be attached. Candidate should also enclose a list of certificates attachedsingned by candidate and parent. The purpose of this quota is to recognize the sports eminence of thecandidates and hence marks for sports achievements alone will be considered in ranking the candidates.The candidates are expected to continue good performance in sports, after admission to Tamil NaduAgricultural University.

    Candidates seeking admission against the special reservation of seats under Eminent SportsPerson should submit the main printed online application, the special reservation form for Sports and aDemand draft for `Rs.100/- and copies of the relevant certificates in person to the Dean & ChairmanAdmissions.

    1. The highest achievement of the candidate in only one annual tournament in the sports disciplinesin a year will be considered for awarding marks.

    2. Selection of the candidate will be based on the marks obtained by the candidate following the

    be enclosed).

    6. For Cricket, the annual official championship tournaments conducted within the country under the

    auspices of TNCA / BCCI at District / State / National Level alone will be taken into consideration

    for that year.

    7. Participation / achievements of candidates with nativity in Tamilnadu who represented Tamilnadu

    alone are eligible for marks under National Category.

    8. Only Tamilnadu candidates are eligible to apply for admission under Sports Quota and only the

    candidates who have studied KVS / CBSE schools within Tamilnadu will be eligible for marks.

    9. A Common Committee for Engineering and Medicine constituted for this purpose will rank the

    candidates based on the marks assigned to the certificates enclosed along with the application.

    10. All the achievement certificates are to be supported necessarily by the relevant participation

    certificates and appropriate Forms.

    11. No further enclosures or certificates under any circumstances will be entertained after the last

    date for submission of completed application.

    12. If any candidate fails to produce the requisite Original Certificates / Forms, his / her place will be

    allotted to the candidate next in rank. Allotment of degree and campus will be based on the

    ranking within this quota.
