The Thermo Scientific Slide-On ATR objectiveprovides an efficient way to collect spectrafrom a sample surface without time-consumingpreparation, making it a perfect choice for theroutine analysis of a wide range of samples.The dovetail mounted crystals easily slide onand off in seconds, retaining full transmissionand reflection capabilities on a single objective, while adding the versatility ofATR analysis.
Collecting spectra is as easy as placingthe sample upon the stage and bringing it incontact with the crystal. The unique propertiesof the hemispherical crystals limit the depthof penetration into the sample surfaceavoiding saturation of the spectral bands.The conical tip design provides exceptionalsensitivity and higher depth of penetration.This allows the analyst to make quick workof identifying trace evidence, defects orinclusions, even inside depressions. for this objective are pre-aligned in slide-onmounts that offer sampling reproducibilitynot found in “pogo stick” or complicatedspring loaded designs. The durable crystaldesign and the precise mounting systemallow ATR map-surveys on many non-abrasivesurfaces. This unique capability allowsspectral previewing when moving the samplein contact mode. Users can identify themost significant sample spot or area in seconds. The Slide-On ATR™ allows the mostconvenient cleaning and crystal inspection toavoid cross-contamination without rotatingthe objective nosepiece or lowering thestage to get access to the crystal. TheSlide-On objective provides transmission,reflection and ATR infrared collection modesas a convenient, unique combination. It alsoprovides the best optical image, due to theinfinity-corrected design.

Germanium HemisphericalA hard material with a shallow depth ofpenetration that is excellent for use withthin layers or carbon-filled materials thatcannot be analyzed with other crystal types.Good choice for ATR surveys.
Silicon Hemispherical A harder material with a deeper depth of penetration than Ge. Excellent for rigidmaterials and powders that may damagesofter crystals. Best choice for ATR surveys.
Tip Crystal A Ge conical shaped crystal with a largedepth of penetration designed to measuresamples inside depressions or betweenobstacles (i.e. assembled electronic boards).Good choice for ATR surveys.
The Slide-On ATR objective comes standard with a sensor plate designed for theintegrated contact-alert electronics of theThermo Scientific Continuµm and ThermoScientific Continuµm XL which not onlyspeeds analysis and assures good samplecontact with the crystal, but also allowsunattended ATR mapping.
