• Circulation– How many copies of a print product have been sold
• Hits– How many viewers its had
• Box Office Figures– how much money it has made
• Ratings – How many ratings its had
• Sales– How many products have been sold
Primary Research• Definition
– Primary research is the research you do your self • Advantages
– You know where the information has come from therefor you know if its right or wrong
• Disadvantages– In order of getting information your self its hard to know if its right
or wrong • Example
– An example of primary research would be if you were handing out questionnaires your getting the people to fill in things that way your getting information you need from your questionnaires
Secondary Research• Definition
– Secondary research is research is what you use from other people
• Advantages– You don’t have to do the research your self as it has already been
done for you• Disadvantages
– Your relying on other peoples research therefor it could be wrong• Example
– Doing research on the internet to find out things your using someone else's research and not your own
Quantitative Research• Definition
– Research that you can quantify means you can put it into percentages and numbers its easier done with a closed question
• Advantages– Its so easy to gather up the information to put it into
percentages and numbers• Disadvantages
– You wont get a lot of information out of it because its done with closed questions

Qualitative Research• Definition Research that has a lot more to it, finding out opinions , beliefs and reasoning• AdvantagesBecause its done using open questions there is a lot of information to get which will help the interviewer get loads of information • DisadvantagesIts conducted by open questions which would be a lot to take in for the person interviewing • Example
– Qualitative research is a method of inquiry that stresses on the why and how of things rather than the what where and when of things. It involves detailed study of a small sample or group. Examples of qualitative research provide an in-depth understanding of the subject.
Audience Research• Definition• a regular public that manifests interest, support and enthusiasm• Advantages• Because the audience are telling you things you will know
what satisfy there needs • Disadvantagesthe media you create will have only been seen by a certain audience ExampleAsk audience the questions
Market Research• DefinitionThe gathering of data relating to consumer preferences, purchasing especially prior to introducing a product on the market. • AdvantagesChoosing the appropriate magazine or newspaper to advertise and market your business allows you to appeal to a specific audience and demographic.• Disadvantages• The bigger the more cost• Example One on one interviews or testing the product
Production Research• DefinitionThe act of producing • Advantages• There advantages include the gain of knowledge of how much
everything is going to cost and where to get all the main resources from. It will help to avoid copyright infringement to prevent buyers from being confused.
• DisadvantagesDisadvantages include unreliable sources like with market research and unreliable people and suppliers which can affect the deadline date.• Example

• Subjective– Research that has been taken by personal feelings or opinions
• Valid– Whether the research is able to answer the final outcome/question
• Reliable– Research that produces accurate and consistent results
