BASIC HEALTH SERVICES INCLUDE– Immunization compliance– Care of injured or ill student. – Care of students with chronic health
conditions, such as:• Diabetes• Asthma • Allergies• Heart disease • Inflammatory bowel disease• Celiac• Orthopedic injury/JRA• Seizure disorders
Health Screenings• Annual height, weight and blood pressure
screening.
• BMI screening in grades 1, 4, and 8.
• Vision in grades pre-K, K, 2, 4, 6, 8.
• Hearing in grades pre-K, K, 1, 2, 3, and 7.
• Scoliosis screening in grades 5, 7, or 8
Annual staff training for:• Allergy and Anaphylaxis with EpiPen training of
select staff
• Diabetes Training
• Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogens
• Asthma – symptoms and management
• Management of cardiac arrest and use of the AED (automatic external defibrillator) to a select team
• Mantoux testing and reporting. Annual flu clinics

Allergy Management at HBS & RMS
• HBS and RMS have management concerns unique to their student population. – Developmentally students are becoming
more independent and participate more fully in their healthcare.
– HBS and RMS children change classes throughout the day so students needs are assessed on an individual basis.
