Ethica, kosmos, logos: Mens in het middelpunt van de wetenschap
(Kuhn’s revolutie in de wetenschapsfilosofie).
Complexiteit van de wereld geworteld in orde. Toegankelijk voor onderzoek en experimentatie.
Onderwijs moet weerspiegeling zijn van eenvoud en complexiteit.
Doel van onderwijs: volledig vrij zijn, volledig mens. Humanitas vereist vrijheid van onwetendheid en vooroordelen.

Universitas magistrorum et scholarium: gemeenschap op zoek naar waarheid en kennis. Niet de verzameling van alle (specialistische) vakgebieden.

Wetenschappelijke uitspraken zijn in wezen voorwaardelijk:

Een wetenschappelijk model kan zijn eigen vooronderstellingen niet (volledig) verantwoorden (axioma’s, betekenis van termen, voorwaarden aan de waarneming, logica).
Wezenlijke kloof tussen model en uitvoering: is (descriptief) versus ought (normatief).
Ethiek resulteert niet uit de natuurwetenschap alleen (descriptief), maar uit reflectie in het licht van wetenschappelijke resultaten en doeleinden (samen met HUM, SSC; normatief).
