Light Moments Jerry was at a marriage seminar, and the leader of the seminar, a lady, was asking everybody how long they were married for. When it was Jerry’s turn Jerry said that he was married for almost 50 years. “Wow” the leader gushed “that’s amazing, perhaps you can take a few minutes to share some insights with everybody, on the secrets of your long and happy married life.” “Well,” Jerry said after thinking for a few moments, “I try to treat her nice, buy her presents, take her on trips…………. and best of all, for our 25th anniversary I took her to the Bahamas.” “Well that’s really beautiful, and a true inspiration for all of us” the lady said “maybe you can tell us what you are going to do for your 50th anniversary” she said with a smile. “Well” Jerry said “I’m thinking of going back to the Bahamas to pick her up.” _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Eight hours into his trial Paddy pleads guilty. Similarly The Laureus World Sports Awards returned to Monaco on Monday 18 February 2019, where the cream of global sport – past, present and future - gathered to honour the greatest sporting achievements of 2018 and celebrate the power of sport to change the world. Some of the main winnners were Novak Djokovic winning the award for the sportsman of the year , Simone Biles the Gymnast from US the sportswoman of the year and Golf legend Tiger woods winning the Comeback of the year . Sevenseas Marathon man strikes again

Sevenseas marathoner Vishal from our Ocean import team at Mumbai has been following his passion for marathons for quite a while now. It has become mandatory to see him at the marathons happening at Mumbai. Continuing this habit Vishal participated in India’s largest road run THE MUMBAI MARATHON and completed the run of 42.195 km in 5.47 hours. The event was organized during the month of Jan 2019. The Federation of Indian Export Organization (FIEO) alongwith India Sea Trade organized a conclave attended by members from freight forwarding, shipping line and Customs at Coimbatore . Sevenseas, Coimbatore was an invitee. The Theme of the discussion was “Various challenges confronting export-import cargo, Logistics and Shipping Industry” and also laying a Road Map for a well established Logistics Infrastructure which is a must and an important deterent in India. The first Nepal-bound container train under ECTS flagged off

across Indian territory without customs examinations.ECTS is supported by a web-based application that allows transit declarations to be submitted online and does not involve any paper work. The Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) and ECTS allows for automated & seamless landing, movement and border crossing of such Nepal transit containers. Customs declarations and assessments will no longer be needed with shipping lines delivering cargo to Nepal through CONCOR,” a senior customs department official said. Under the system, ECTS seals with inbuilt GPS are attached to the containers. Nepalese importers are then able to track the location of the cargo and any attempt of pilferage is immediately known. There is also a geographical barrier that doesn’t allow the containers to move from their designated path without sending out alerts.Earlier, a Nepalese Importer had to send seven original documents to get the cargo cleared from the Kolkata port and this took nearly a week to arrive. This has now been reduced to one document that is electronically transmitted. The new process will also enable savings of up to $200 per container for traders. The Kolkata port now handles about 60,000 Nepal containers. The new system is likely to encourage more importers in the landlocked country to use this route. The system will only be used for containers moving by rail (about 40% of the total). “Despite all odds and challenges, KoPT including Kolkata Dock System and Haldia Dock Complex could be sustained due to unflinching customer support, won over the years through strategic planning and marketing drives,” sources said.

The first train of containers for Nepal using the Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) was flagged-off from the Netaji Subhas Dock by Kolkata Port Trust chairman and the Commissioner of Customs, Kolkata, on the 16th Feb. Dangerous roads in the World – Tianmen Mountain road, China

Located in China this road called Tongtian highway has 99 bends as it winds almost seven miles up to an elevation of 4,265 feet. Much care and pride was put into constructing this road which took 5 years to build. The road was designed to show off much of the areas natural beauty to reach the summit. The one thing that sets this climb apart from any other climb in the world is its switchbacks. The Chinese are fascinated with the number 9. This is a very symbolic number to the Chinese culture. Tianmen Mountain Road was built with Ninety-nine hairpins over its 12 km distance. Reminiscent of the Great Wall of China, the snake-like path which leads to the mountain’s summit, is extremely sacred in Chinese culture. Supposedly, the Chinese believe that the 99 sharp bends symbolise the nine palaces in heaven. At the summit you’ll find Tianmen Cave, otherwise known as ‘Heaven’s Door’ and the ‘Stairway to Heaven’, a 30m hole that has eroded between two peaks resulting in a huge doorway in the cliff face.

We all at some point experience this phenomenon of being listened to by people who actually just wait to respond rather than try and understand what is being said. This is more prevalent at our workplace.
