Adult Faith Formation ~~ The Mass Coming in January

For Catholics, the Mass is probably the most familiar part of our faith. But sometimes, familiarity makes us take something for granted or prevents us from going deeper.

Join us as we walk through the Mass with Bishop Barron in an adult study program beginning in January. With Bishop Barron as our guide, we will see how the Mass brings us out of the fallen world and into the heavenly realm. We’ll come to realize that the Mass is the most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord, Jesus Christ here on earth. We will meet two Saturdays a month, after 5:00 Mass, in the parish hall. A light supper will be provided, followed by the program (approximately 60 minutes). Come and see that there is more to Mass than you ever realized! Dates are:

• January 8, 22

• February 5, 19

• March 5, 19

• April 2

Please contact Karen Leffel with any questions or to register – [email protected] Please register by December 19, so we may plan accordingly.

Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids: We requesting donations of NEW coats for kids Kindergarten through High School. Coats may be left in the box at the back of the church following weekend masses through December 12th. All collected coats will be provided to the children of our community who are in need. Your support and donations are needed and appreciated. Eve Mlodynia and Freddie Meditz are spearheading this effort. Peanuts: Peanut orders are due by December 1st. If you have any questions or need a form, please see Michael Flanagan. Christmas Cards: “Keep Christ in Christmas” cards are available in the back of the Church after Mass.

Healing Prayer LORD, You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow Your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others. Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that my mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Teach me to reach out to You in my need and help me to lead others to You by my example. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring me health in body and spirit that I may serve You with all my strength. Touch gently this life which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

Helping Hands Ministry Thanksgiving Meals

This Thanksgiving, we will be providing food to 55 families in need in our county. Twenty-two (22) of the families can shop for food themselves, so we are delivering a $50 Food Lion Gift Card to them.

We are preparing for each of the 33 remaining families a bag of food, which will include a freshly cooked rotisserie chicken, a frozen pie and boxed and can goods for their Thanksgiving meal, along with a $25 Food Lion Gift Card.

For anyone who can help us, we will be bagging the boxed and can goods this Sunday, November 21 at 1 p.m. in the St. Charles Parish Hall.

On Wednesday, November 24, I will be picking up the freshly-cooked rotisserie chickens at BJs at 11 a.m. and Al Paschall will be picking up the frozen pies at Food Lion at noon. We will meet at the Parish Hall between 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. with these last minute goods and be ready to send off at 1 p.m. volunteers to help us make the deliveries.

If you are able and available to help deliver a few bags of food, please let me now so I can prepare the lists:

• text me at 757-695-4884 or • email me at [email protected] • no later than Tuesday, November 23 at 5 p.m. It always helps to have two people per vehicle, one to

drive and the other to navigate to each family's residence. Thank you to all who have helped, by donating your time, money or both to support this ministry!
