Coming Back to the Table - Bishop Jaime Soto May 29, 2020

Dear Friends in Christ:

The Catholic community in the Diocese of Sacramento will be able to celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi, around the sacred altars of their parish churches on Sun-day, June 14th.

I am lifting the heartbreaking suspension of public celebrations of the Sacrifice of the Mass starting on Monday, June 8th. This will help pastors ready the churches for the glorious Feast of Corpus Christi. Parishes that are prepared to implement all the necessary public health protocols may begin offering Mass with the Faithful on June 8th.

My brother priests and I are taking all the steps to ensure the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated in a manner that gives peace of mind to all our brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus.

The public guidelines I recently shared for resuming public celebrations of the Mass have been up-dated to reflect our continued work with public health officials. These guidelines are available on the diocesan website. These guidelines include limiting attendance to the lower of either 25% of church capacity or a maximum of 100 congregants. Pastors will also make these guidelines available to their parishioners. Please consult with your local parish to confirm the schedule of Masses and oth-er directives intended to provide a safe environment for everyone in the church assembly.

Hotline Number 916-733-2010 It's time to make a plan. Every day think about a way you can be more kind and helpful to your spouse, your children, your neighbor, your co-worker, the other drivers on the road, the cashier in the grocery store, the passer by on the street, and the struggling family in your parish communi-ty. It might be a smile, a hug, a kind word, helping someone with a task or household chore, giving a young couple a much needed break by watching their children for a couple hours, by praying for all those in need, and with your monetary and food donations to those who are hungry. As you do this more and more, it will become a natural gesture to always reach in need. Please help us keep our Food Closet well stocked so we can help those who come to us for food. Sounds like a great plan, right? Thank you! Call for all your questions or concerns.

Message to our Parishioners: During this difficult and challenging time of the COVID-19 pan-demic our Church depends on your support to continue its min-istry and providing help to the community. Our parish is de-pendent upon the weekly or monthly offertory collection (for maintenance, utilities and needs of the church). We would be most grateful for your continued financial support while our collections are significantly affected. Please continue to mail in your weekly offertory donations to the parish, or by connecting with us through the online giving link: www.scbchurchsac.org/onlinegiving. Thank you and God bless you!

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe for the Protection from

Coronavirus - Archbishop Jose H. Gomez’s prayer: Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
